You said Pippen was drafted by the Bulls, comment # 14905.

:pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound:

In fairness…

That is semantics.

It was a draft night trade. Pretty sure Seattle drafted him because the deal was already made and that was who Krause wanted them to take.

The fuck is Memphis doing? Unless this dude committed a crime, just wait 2 months to fire him if you don't want him to coach anymore. They're 4th right now and the playoffs are like 3 weeks away
I concur.

There's gotta be something more behind this firing... I can't help but wonder if player(s) turned against Jenkins.

Yeah, he has his team in a good playoff position.

The timing is really odd.

I'm definitely in favor of...if you're going fire your coach...just get it over with. But this timing is odd even by those standards.

Even if they were considering firing him before this...what has changed from say, 2-3 months ago that they're firing him a couple of weeks before the playoffs start?

I wasn't expecting Jenkins to get fired. Was surprised when I found out.

Have a group chat about basketball and I said almost exactly this on there.

We are going to get some news about this one. Something happened. This is bigger than players and coaches not being on the same page.

I’m 46

I played for a Bobby Knight disciple in high school. He was a terrible coach. We spent more time running sprints than we did actually practicing.

I know how to teach the game. I know what works and more importantly, I know what doesn’t.

There is a reason NOBODY coaches like your beloved old coach anymore. If it were effective, people would still coach that way.

It worked for some back when everyone else was some type of derivative of the same tired BS.

Good coaches absolutely hold players accountable. But they do it in a respectful way and foster an actual partnership. That 100% proven to be the most effective form of leadership.

When I coached, the HC for the varsity was a Bobby Knight disciple as well. He was actually good at teaching the game (learned a lot from him)...but similar to Knight...very volatile way of doing it. I used to tell the players "listen to what he's saying, not how he's saying it".

I appreciated his knowledge and what I learned but wasn't a fan of his style.

Unsurprisingly, about 3 years after I left, there was an "uprising" with the players and their parents that got him fired.

My coach was really bad.

He had a ton of rules, but wasn’t really able to teach players how to react to different coverages etc. and we were so afraid of making mistakes and getting benched that we ended up playing like robots.

Didn’t make many mistakes, but didn’t do much good either.

He also way overplayed 1 specific kid who never came out of the game. His older brother was a 1,000 point scorer, but younger bro had no skill whatsoever. He was athletic and he played hard.

But we had me and another kid who were probably the 2 best shooters in the district. And we always subbed in for each other, never played together and were only allowed to shoot as an after thought basically.

If we took a 3 before 2 ball reversals and a post entry?

To the bench you go!

But when it went in to the post? It rarely came back out.

You do realize that I watched just about every game Jordan played after about 1988 right?

He would have been a solid 3 point shooter for sure. Probably even a good one. Crazy to predict he would have been one of the best. That wasn’t his game.
You’re a loony tune

Sell your crazy on ebay

Jordan was the epitome of competition

If the game was all about the 3 years ago like it is now, faggettaboutitt!!

Dude , how can someone write about the game so eloquently, then be so off the wall about something so simple

Nobody in any era can be what MJ was!

Nobody

The last sentence is true

But you are romanticizing.

There is no reason to speculate he “would have been one of the best 3 point shooter”.

Based on nothing.

There were many better shooters in his era, even on his own teams. Speaking the truth about his actual abilities doesn’t diminish what he accomplished or how great he was.

You can be so arrogant at times

Makes me want to crack a clip board over your head…

There may have been pure shooters during his time, better ball handlers, play makers, defenseman. Etc

But no one had the drive he had to win, to take over a game. Dude was insane in the membrane on the court . He was a pit bull that wouldn’t let go!

Learn to read.

I’m not debating any of that.

Your boy claimed he would be one of the best shooters in the league if he played today.

That is what I am disagreeing with.

Not impossible, but certainly wouldn’t claim it like it is a given.

He was a great scorer. Probably the greatest scorer.

He was not a pure shooter.

No dude.

I’m not criticizing him at all.

I’m refuting a claim made by someone who literally believes he was a god

I’m not the one exaggerating man.

Please point to 1 claim I made here that was an exaggeration.
