It’s is sooooo much easier today it’s beyond pathetic

Years ago you could hardly hand check a player, today they clutch snd grab onto jerseys makin it difficult for the refs to even make a call , and ya wonder why the refs suck

Years ago, if you beat the defender, it was an automatic foul if you even attempted to come from behind and attempt to block shot

Traveling and carrying the ball was always called

3 seconds was always called

Over the back was always loose ball foul


And so many more, they have made it so easy for the player today and you need load mgmt???? F n laughable, these guys don’t play D, there’s commercial break after commercial break.

80s and before that stuff was a foul. 90s into the 2000s was the dead era of basketball.

Refs allowed too much contact, offenses were stagnant and relied far too much on isolation and the product was an ugly mess.

Today?

Zone defenses forced teams to move back to a more team friendly ball movement style over the ISO ball that was born out of the 90s. Teams actually use math to determine what the most efficient play types are to seek out, and the least efficient ones to avoid.

The game is fast and it is predicated on player skill over raw athleticism that dominated the 90s.

Is it perfect?

No. But it is the best the NBA has been for people who can get past the “get off my lawn” types yearning for a return to the bad basketball of the post Jordan era.

Jordan was literally the only thing that made the 90s watchable.

Some blindingly bad defense by the Lakers in the last minute. 4th quarter failed lobs and loose defense made the game tighter than it needed to be.
