Brown is going to preach defense in a more player friendly way.

He is not making them better than they were though.
Made Sacremento better than they were....didn't seem to get better when he left.

But sure, he is like most coaches not named Larry Brown, Spo or Carlisle. Give him talent he can succeed. Don't and he wont.

Of course.

But he wasn’t replacing a good coach when he left Sacramento.

He inherited a mess.

Not the case in NY.

Didn't inherit a mess here with that Lebron fellow and I'd say he did OK. Heck, he even taught the younger Lebron that D matters and had one of the top defenses despite starting Gooden, Pavlovic and giving major minutes to rookie Gibson, Damon Jones and others who thought D was a rumor.

wouldn't be first choice but they could do a lot worse.

Mike Brown is a fine coach.

He is not the guy you get to replace Thibs when one of the main complaints was lack of offensive creativity.

Knicks have aspirations to be a contender.

Do you think a safe hire like Mike Brown is enough to get them there?

I agree they can do worse.

Could've stopped at insane really.

Firing a coach that just stopped one round short of the finals without an available replacement in mind, then trying to poach successful coaches off their current teams? Knicks gonna Knick I guess. Reckless and idiotic.

Depends who he brings to help run the offense. He'll be as good an option as most names we hear or will hear.

I get this sense that the NBA is experiencing a downturn in available new young good coaches that used to be supplied by the College ranks. College coaches appear to be staying at their respective schools longer and not many want the NBA mess apparently.

The best NBA coaches rarely come from college ranks.

Traditionally the college coaches that have made the jump struggle more often than not.
