What kind of crazy or meaningful changes could they have done instead?
Off the top of my head... something to encourage more black coaches and/or ownership. Attach incentives having to do with draft picks, etc.

What they did was a whole bunch of window-dressing / virtue signaling, iirc.

If they went really crazy... address the racial gap on the court... whitey getting screwed.*

Steve Young and Brett Favre are better 90s QBs than Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Young would be the best qb ever if he beat Montana to sf

We don’t need any of that either

Oh... I'm not personally endorsing such ideas. Or anything the league did do.

Just calling a spade a spade. It was a very "virtue-signally" time in history... a lot of pressure to make the 'right' motions to a judgy world, counter-balanced by a strong impulse not to rock the boat too much.

I mean, sounds like the Rooney Rule in the NFL, do people think that’s working?

Also, clearing the calendar to encourage voter participation doesn’t seem very racial to me and that’s a good thing, no?

I didn't say taking all games off the schedule on election day was bad... I said it was virtue-signally.

Especially with the move to early/alternative voting options in most states. Folks get plenty of opportunity to vote in this day and age. Would have meant a lot more if they instituted the change back in the 80's or 90's (or earlier).

In my own (selfish) opinion... I wish we had a few Tuesday NBA games on the menu to take our minds off politics for a little bit. But it's not a big deal either way.

Just don’t see the harm in clearing the calendar on voting day

Anything virtuous sends a signal. Doesn’t mean it shouldn’t happen. Nor is it something to complain about IMO

I consider Mahomes the best ever right now. Rings are nice but are a team accomplishment especially in football. As far as actual skill and talent and performance on the field Mahomes plays the position better than anyone ever. If you could pick a QB to start your franchise with you take him first.

That is a totally fair take

I could say a lot of that about prime rodgers as well but he got stuck with McCarthy

Yup. It’s why we consider Marino better than Eli even though it’s zero rings to two. Who would you rather have as your guy?

You are right Brady and manning couldn’t throw it very far in the 90s
