Nor should he

It would be more affirmative action for short people

Like the made for tv gimmick the 3pt line

Wrong as usual.

Demands for guards and bigs are a lot different.

30 years ago it made sense for the best rim protector to win every year as the game was played inside out.

That isn’t the case anymore.

Lou Dort’s job is impossibly hard. He is more deserving than anybody this season.

Nope

Nice projection

Rim protection is still the #1 for defense

And won’t change since it’s the highest % shot

Part of the reason the Thunder have 4 of the best wing defenders in the league is Dort takes on the best player for the other team every single night.

It is insane to still evaluate DPOY the same way it has always been in a game that has changed so much.

Rudy Gobert is the prime example. He is not a modern DPOY.

All I know is Lu Dort was likely a better defender in jr high than Marcus Smart was when he won. Talk about a one off.

Smart came out of nowhere like Draymond Green this season. These awards are a scam which is why i stopped caring about them for 2-3 years now.

Not saying both aren't really good defensive players but you can see the media/espn influence on these awards. The year Smart won it, the talk in Februry was all about Bridges and Robert Williams then the smart hype train started in March and he ended up winning it

Dort is similar to Bam IMO where he never going to win a DPOY because he doesn't stand out on any of the fancy stats and the media doesn't give a damn about his team

It's funny because the award started out acknowledging non marquee wings type guys like Alvin Robertson and then quickly became an award for bigs.

Aside from Artest (who is still a bigger name than Dort) there hasn't been a wing or guard defender win it that wasn't a big name (Payton and Kawhi)

If he won that would be great, but history not in his favor.
Was Marcus Smart a “big name”?

I don't see anybody stopping the Thunder from a title. Cleveland, the Celtics, maybe Denver and the W's might give them a run for their money but if the Thunder stay healthy, the chances are pretty good the Thunder will win the 2025 Title.
Boston has the best chance IMO because of their defense and they can shoot a million 3s. But I still think OKC wins vs them in the finals

He's not a real NBA fan. He bitches too much about things.
Fans are allowed to bitch. I think it’s more accurate to say Q is not a MODERN NBA fan. He’s one of those “back in the day it was great the modern game sucks” types. It’s still dumb of course lol

The NBA is far more profitable and popular than before there was a 3 point line. If that’s a made for TV gimmick it worked really well

Or the internet….

Or the internet what?

The 3 point line happened way before that as did the rise of NBA popularity and viewership

The internet and globalization are far bigger factors than the diminished quality of play
