Yep no surprise. They going to have a hard time making the playoffs now so you traded Luka for possibly only 1 yr of AD/Kyrie because I have to think Kyrie opt out at end of next season

Way to go Nico. Trade for an aging injury prone player.

It sucks that Nico is catching all of the smoke on this because based on what has been reported and the weird way the whole thing went down...this smells like ownership calling the shot.

They didn't want to give him that supermax and if they kept him and he gets them to the finals again...they wouldn't have much choice but to pay him.

As I posted the other day...I don't know if ownership was on board with him not getting what his original asking price was from the Lakers...but they were on board with him moving him to the Lakers for AD.

Nico knew that he could get the trade done quickly because he knew they were only willing to move AD if they got Luka in return...that covered the quickly part...

And because he and Pelinka have a good relationship...he knew he could trust him to keep his mouth shut until the trade was completed...which covered the quietly part.

I am older than AD by a good bit.

But I strained my groin in June and I am still not right.

Keep re-tweaking it over and over.

Can be a very frustrating injury.
Had a hip flexor a while back, holy crap that was bad. Thought it was a groin injury but nope hip flexor.

No question it was an ownership decision.

They rushed him back too soon trying to quiet the fan rage from the trade and now its bit them. Like I said a couple days ago, I've been rooting for the Mavs to miss the playoffs after the way they've been trashing Luka in the media. Now its a very real possibility. Reap what you sow

Cut Reddish or Morris and sign Theis. Maybe see if you can convince Alex Len to ditch the Pacers and sign in LA instead since his move technically isn't official as he has to clear waivers first. They just need a body with experience at this point

Theis is apparently going back overseas, which is why he was bought out.
