They did but you have to give up something to get something in return. And you don't let a player like Christie hold up landing a franchise player like Luka.

PS: I originally didn't like this trade because I really liked AD on the Lakers.

Could have gotten much more had they made the other teams known he was available. They got an aging/injury prone star and a solid role player. Not enough for a 25 year old top 5 player in the game who is 6 years younger. Had Luka and AD been close in age then it’s a different convo

There's too many sources/insiders around every team for things not to get out after the fact which is why I think there's nothing more to the Luka stuff than what we heard already.

1) He's fat (allegedly)
2) They don't think they can win with him.....even though they made the NBA finals last year in the first full season with him and Kyrie. Also made a conference finals 2 years ago with a mediocre roster lol
3) Defense win championships. Even though Nico wasn't smart enough to realize there are other ways to improve your defense without trading Luka
