I'm fine with filling the other spots on the cheap. They have two 2nds left to trade.

Supposedly Danny is hedging because trading Kessler to the Lakers might worsen the post-Lebron picks they trade for him. That and he's trying to drive up the price of course.

that does make sense as it's against his own future interests.

the pick is protected though

Funy enough I think Murray has had a bad year defensively at PG for the Pels. So gabe vincent as the backup PG might be the best situation the lakers can muster for now.

But definitely need to find some better wing help with Rui and Vanderbilt contracts, Vandy is a good defender but zero spacingis too problematic with the current roster lineup.

DFS stays. He can't be aggregated anyway, but he had the only positive +/- last night. He's had the best +/- on the team (or close to it) nearly every night since the trade. More players like him please.

Lakers have wanted Bruce Brown for a while, but he's JUST getting back to playing. Would be an ideal backcourt defender addition. Maybe a Brown/Poetl package? Would take Rui/Gabe and filler and at least 1 first.

yeah lebron, brow, DFS, Christie are the 4 guys who likely don't go anywhere.

i've sendt him to half the league already, but someone needs to get Duop Reath out of Portland.

If you spend your firsts on smaller guys, that's the center to target.

I can't see anyone taking Vando's contract right now. 2 more years plus a player option for a guy that hasn't played in almost a full calendar year. GMs are petrified of the new aprons and the trade restrictions they bring.

I'm pretty sure that 2027 pick would have the protections lifted as part of any Kessler trade (and the Lakers would need to add either the 2029 or the 2031, maybe both if they work Sexton into the deal). That's 3 Lakers picks Danny would have that Kessler could affect.

What about a Knicks trade for Anouby and Robinson? Would need a third team to take a small salary to make it work since both teams can't take back more money.

Chicago for LaVine?

Knicks absolutely love OG. They are not trading him anytime soon and not for a soon to be 36 year old Butler

The Lakers effort/focus is that bad. Defense comes and goes as a result.
Obviously there are fundamentals to defense but a huge part of defense is effort. I thought Garland looked like a young Steph last year and now he is a + defender even with his lack of size. A lot of the issues is definitely effort

yeah, it's not an ideal spot.

Much like Nnaji the only benefit is it could be spread out over many many yeasr (like 7) at a relatively low cost of dead cap space.

One place that might work would be the clippers. They have PJ and need someone who....can actually play at the nba level

the expiring corpse of tucker would have more value

but i'm not sure who the deal is for. I don't think you need JV or Vuc. Also depends if you make the kessler trade.

Any frontcourt need is depth at this point even if they move Rui. DFS, Lebron, AD should take the vast majority of the minutes. Vando's return fills in a lot of the excess. Trading Rui for a defensive minded combo guard seems ideal. Bruce Brown is making more and more sense to me.

yah no Cavs fan (that I know at least) is saying anything about a "dynasty"

to give the OP the benefit of the doubt- it looks like the Cavs and Thunder are loaded with good young players- and at least for the Cavs- signed up for years to come- and likely to be around the top of the standings for a while.

Now- only 1 team wins a title- and its not guaranteed that either of them win it- but I think its pretty clear that the Cavs and Thunder each had solid runs of relevance not too long ago- and both have rebuilt and are ready for new runs- while a lot of other teams stay perpetually mediocre/suck.

Its a testament to the management of both teams that - as teams that are not premier free agent draws, are able to consistently have sustained runs of success, bottom out, and then pretty quickly (for NBA standards) re-establish themselves as teams you dont want to fuck with.
and if not mistaken neither had a ton of lottery luck in their current rebuilds. A little bit to get Mobley and Holmgren, but other than that..........?
