If Lakers believed Bronny was a legitimate prospect

He would be in the G league full time.

They don't have enough viable bodies consistently to have 12 players available. He's also missed games due to injury.

I don't know that full time G league indicates legitimate prospect realistically. Better to get some practice time with the big team IMO interspersed with G-league games.

Of course, none of that means he's necessarily a viable prospect (at least in the short term) regardless.

He’s doing what LeBron wants, period. Not saying that’s a bad thing, just how it is.

True, but the problem with Bronny is that because of the heart attack that he had and how long the recovery was, he is way behind everyone else who was drafted with him. In his only season at USC, he was out for the first 7 games, then was on a minutes restriction for about half of the games he did play. He definitely has some talent (given the height difference, his hops might be better than Lebrons in his prime), but we've only seen "flashes" because he hasn't had consistent playing time.

I agree that practicing with the big club can be beneficial, but what he really needs is lots of playing time, which is only going to happen in the G-League.

Yeah, I'd imagine that's part of it. I'm sure it's kind of tough for Lebron. He's at the end of his career and playing in the NBA with your son has got to be an amazingly cool experience.

Lebron is smart enough to know that Bronny needs as many minutes on the court as possible if he's ever going to even make it as a bench player in the NBA and that he's only going to get that kind of time in the G-League...but he's also gotta love having him on the Lakers.

I hope he hasn't convinced himself that the practice time with the Lakers is better for his development than game time with South Bay.

This has been rumored for a while now.

Byu has gotten a major recruit in b2b years because they actually have crazy donor money.

Idk why it took so long to get them to buy players lol

I think once they can consistently have 12 healthy bodies each night without Bronny, he'll see more consistent G-league time.

Do they not still have a missionary requirement? Haven't paid any attention to BYU grads in quite a while...

They changed this apparently, it’s not a requirement just a suggestion

I think it is a requirement if you are Mormon, and it would be nice if you aren't. They would certainly be willing to overlook it if some of that NBA money made its way back.

A quick check showed it is not an absolute requirement for BYU athletes.

Pretty boring to be required to only use that position. How do they enforce it?

He's actually more valuable as salary filler here so I'm sure that's not an issue for either team in a potential trade. With the new CBA with teams over the apron(s), in a lot of deals you have to take back damn near close to equal money. So with Lebron at 48.7 mil and say you got a package put together for 46, Bronny's 1.1 mil deal could put you in range to make the deal go thru

You think they could realistically win this year? Once they struck out on all those other deals to add over the years, it made this necessary. Butler isn't getting younger and now is your only window to get something for him.
