Ragans is sharp, man. If he doesn't eventually crack the starting rotation this year he'll be Brock Burke 2.0 in the pen.

I read that the Yankees are desperate for starting pitching. I wonder if Ragans has another couple of good outings if the Yankees would come to us asking for Jon Gray? Too early at this point, but it could get interesting.

Some notes from Jeff Wilson:

Right-hander Jake Odorizzi isn’t worried about possibly opening the season on the injured list. The goal is to make sure his arm fatigue doesn’t return once he is cleared to go.

Acquired from the Braves in November, Odorizzi said he is throwing bullpen sessions and working each day to find out what his next threshold is. He hasn’t not faced hitters and doesn’t know when he might do so.

“I don’t put timelines on things any more,” said Odorizzi, who has dealt with various injuries the past few seasons. “We see where we’re at, adjust, and keep pushing.”

The Rangers are counting on Odorizzi to be a multi-innings reliever and spot starter. If he starts the season on the IL, left-hander Cole Ragans or right-handers Glenn Otto, Dane Dunning and Spencer Howard would be candidates to open the season in the bullpen.

Briefly

• Left-hander Danny Duffy, in camp on a minor-league deal, said that he hopes to be throwing off a mound by late next week. He said he hasn’t felt as healthy as he does now in at least two seasons. Duffy is looking to make an impact in the bullpen this season.

• The Rangers have been keeping Brad Miller out of left field so far this spring as he nursed a minor groin injury back to full health. It hasn’t not prevented Miller from playing first base or serving as the designated hitter in Cactus League games.

Huff with a double in his only at bat today, raising his average to .333 and his OPS to 1.289. Extremely small sample size, but it is better than hitting .150 or something. Lol

I think his problem is between his ears, but I don’t know if that can be fixed.
