Just to be clear, the Lakers are presently focusing in on finding the RIGHT HC. That aside, there are quite a few trade scenarios that are out there but what is fairly true is that the Lakers would like to sign-and-trade DRuss (D-Lo) because he has relinquished his contract options, so he does want to move on or at least he wanted to when Ham was still HC.

Others who maybe involved are: Reaves, Hachimura, Vincent, DRuss, Reddish, Hood-Schifino, and Vanderbilt. And then there are those three controlled First Rounders: 2025 first-round pick, 2029 first-round pick, and a 2030 first rounder.

DLo hasn't opted out yet, that was over-reported. He's expected to.

True indeed. I am writing with a lot of flux going on so some of my specifics can change while posting. And you know that. (I Think). But thanks for the instant clarifications though.

Yep, Shopson, Gilbert is still pissed about LeBron leaving his Cavaliers for the Heat.

You would think coming back and stealing a title with a blatantly illegal goaltend would heal some wounds….

ESPN are the douchebags in this case

Well, them too.

Yeah.

I like Jeff Van Gundy. Got to meet him once. Nice guy.

But he pretty well fits the definition of a douchebag IMO. Impossible for me to not picture him getting dragged while clinging to Alonzo Mourning’s leg anytime I see him.

and while I highly doubt he ends up there (and guessing you agree) a 3 team deal also possible to help make it work.

Possible. The only way I see the Lakers having the best offer without a 3rd team is if there is somehow less interest in him than expected or he poisons the well like AD did. Haven't heard of him saying he wants to be a Laker, so doubt that would happen anyway.

It makes sense if he is viewing it as the Lakers are unlikely to be able to offer the best package. Almost any trade is going to have to include Russell, and if you thought Garland and Mitchell were bad...

That being said, outright rejecting any trade before you see what offer they come up with is just bad business. An owner stepping into the GM lane before any type of negotiation happens damages the teams reputation, and undercuts his GMs ability to make the best deal.

Even if you have no intention of ever making that trade, being able to say no I will take the Lakers deal as extra leverage is valuable. Just like how the NBA uses Seatle to get stadiums whenever they want.
Yeah as smart and successful he is and pretty much all owners the goal is to try to improve your team with the best and certainly don't think it is different in this scenario. Only exception is trading a great player to a heated rival, I'm sure some owners will accept a little less in that scenario.

Orlando is interested in DLo

There will be interest in D-Lo because he has played well for the Lakers in the regular season and of the 4 playoff series that he's played with the Lakers, he was fine, except for vs. the Nuggets.

It will be interesting to see what he wants vs. what teams are willing to pay.

Precisely TJF12. There is still an outside chance, albeit slim, that DRuss can be talked into staying. That talking will have to come from primarily the new HC who will have to sell his brand of winning basketball that will get DRuss to buy in. Otherwise, DRuss will probably be goneso by fall.

True. I should have been more specific as I included the players that have been mentioned in the myriad of trade proposals floated out there.

Is this really a story? Candidates preparing for an opening that does not exist and he stresses no one contacted because no opening exists?

So basically what he has told us is guys without a job are hoping they can be interviewed for jobs?

The wording of the tweet is weird, from my perspective he is basically saying the final decision has not been made yet but when it is, coaches are ready to interview and interested in the position. Not shocking news
