Perhaps the Lakers have become league-wide persona non grata.

It makes sense if he is viewing it as the Lakers are unlikely to be able to offer the best package. Almost any trade is going to have to include Russell, and if you thought Garland and Mitchell were bad...

That being said, outright rejecting any trade before you see what offer they come up with is just bad business. An owner stepping into the GM lane before any type of negotiation happens damages the teams reputation, and undercuts his GMs ability to make the best deal.

Even if you have no intention of ever making that trade, being able to say no I will take the Lakers deal as extra leverage is valuable. Just like how the NBA uses Seatle to get stadiums whenever they want.

I'm guessing that's what he meant IF he said it(LA wont be offering enough). As to your other comments I agree and why I doubt Gilbert ever made that comment.

Yeah, if the Lakers come in with best offer, he's accepting it. To do otherwise would be cutting off his nose to spite his face.

and while I highly doubt he ends up there (and guessing you agree) a 3 team deal also possible to help make it work.

Just to be clear, the Lakers are presently focusing in on finding the RIGHT HC. That aside, there are quite a few trade scenarios that are out there but what is fairly true is that the Lakers would like to sign-and-trade DRuss (D-Lo) because he has relinquished his contract option, so he does want to move on or at least he wanted to when Ham was still HC.

Others who maybe involved are: Reaves, Hachimura, Vincent, DRuss, Reddish, Hood-Schifino, and Vanderbilt. And then there are those three controlled First Rounders: 2025 first-round pick, 2029 first-round pick, and a 2030 first rounder.
