Can't disagree with that. One ring usually doesn't equal three MVP's. Heard the other day he finished the regular season in the top 10 in pts, rebs, asts. Not sure if he was the only one. If I remember I'll look it up later.

And the thing is, if Embiid didn't miss all those games, he probably would have won it this year!

Lebron won 3 MVP’s before he won a title(with his 3rd win coming in the year he won his 1st title but his award was announced before his win) so at least Joker won one the year before he won his 3rd.

Now I’m not comparing LeBron‘s skill set to Jokic’s I’m just saying the NBA changes how they vote and what criteria they use all the time and so acting like changing it for Jokic is somehow unheard of is ridiculous

Good luck. If you don’t think he deserves more MVPs than Shaq and Kobe combined then you’re just a

Well, about that.

2000 Shaq was as dominant as any big man ever.

However…

Shaq had a games played problem. Which is why he never won more than 1 MVP.

He played 81 games his first 2 seasons and 79 in his 3rd.

After that? Only twice got more than 67 games played during his prime with the Lakers and 3 times during that span he played 60 or fewer.

As for Kobe?

He spent the first 8 or 9 years of his career as the second best player on his own team. Once Shaq left LA, the lakers were pretty mediocre for his best statisctal seasons.

And by the time they got good again he had to deal with prime LeBron.

There is no prime LeBron today.

So saying that Jokic “doesn’t deserve more MVPs than Shaq and Kobe” ignores the context of the competition that stood in Shaq and Kobe’s way.

Joker competition is very weak in comparison.

Had to look this stuff up but here are some things Jokic has done that no player in league history has done.

-lead his team in pts, rebs, asts for seven consecutive seasons

-only player to have a 2000/1000/500 season

-single season PER record 32.3 for the 2021-22 season

-one of two players in league history with a 2000/1000/800 (the other is Big O)

-most trip-dubs in a single playoff run with eight breaking Wilt's record

Bonus stuff because he accomplished this against Lakers (fuck 'em!) last season in the WFC. 27.8 ppg, 14.5 rebs, 11.8 asts / shot 50.6% from the field & 47.1% from downtown)

Most of the info was from this article on nba-.com. 15 interesting facts about no. 15, Nikola Jokic.

Hollinger had some interesting info on his supporting cast

Jamal Murray averaged 26 7 and 5 and shot 40 percent from 3 in the 23 playoffs

His on off was plus 10 and Jokics was plus 3

But yea

Jokic was the singular driving force.

And Jokic in the same 20 games?
30.0 ppg
9.5 apg
46.1% 3 pointers
13.5 rpg

They are pretty pretty good when both are on their game. It hasn’t been the case for almost the last month.

I was merely challenging the "singular driving force" comment

Come on, man.

Kobe deserved to have at least 1 of the 2 MVP's Nash got.

Well, Kobe was 3rd team all NBA the year Nash won his first. Not in the conversation.

And 4th in MVP voting the year he got his second. That was the infamous Smush Parker team.

Deserving or no, he wasn’t going to get there with or without Nash.

Kobe was well behind LeBron in voting that year.

And while I don’t think Nash deserved it, LeBron did.

If we are saying Nash stole his MVP awards, he stole them from Miami Shaq and LeBron.

Not from Kobe.

I can’t find one that isn’t behind a paywall but Shaq completely unloaded on Shannon Sharpe today. I think this one is real.

intersting move

@fightinfunbags tradinf clippers 2028 for Knect (rockets pick) and taking dasilva is…kinda fun?

And you still have absurd loads of cap space but added two older shooters out of the draft who should be playing day 1
