I think the difference between Siakam and Grant is more significant than others suggest. I think the main point, Portland would move him for 2 1st's. I don't see the benefit in moving him for only one 1st and they won't more than he is worthMaybe you guys were in the group that’s in the exception but I think the board was universally agreed that the Grant contract was an overpay.
A different perspective: the Portland plan all along was to use Grant to establish a salary slot that they could flip for assets. In exchange for Brogdan and Grant they get $50 million of cap relief so they can do it again this off season. In reality, Grant is an overpay that a team inherits on their cap for the next 4 years. Solid player who is a 3rd option on a contender on an expensive deal should net little more than a first. I’ve learned the value around the league in this circumstance watching my team shop Tobias Harris the last few years to no avail.I think the difference between Siakam and Grant is more significant than others suggest. Expiring vs 4 years of a bad deal? Hmmmm… neither are great in that regard. To me this becomes a which is less ideal.Aren't Indy's picks more valuable than Philly's too. Has to be taken into consideration + Siakam was on an expiring deal. Not crazy to think Portland could get 2 1st's but even adding in Brogdon I think Philly would only give up 2
It was a slight overpay to keep Dame....Maybe you guys were in the group that’s in the exception but I think the board was universally agreed that the Grant contract was an overpay.
head still shaking?Starting Hayes, Vandy, Prince along with Reaves and Russell.....
SMH.
still wouldn't mind at some point Lebron asks to come back and Gilbert says thanks but no thanks.Garland is an obvious one but I highly doubt they would trade him with Gilbert/Bron history.
I don’t believe Stevens would trade for him even witnessing him punish that team for years.
I get it and that does make sense. I'm not saying they couldn't give up one 1st and it wouldn't be a fair deal. Shit, it could happen if Philly wants Grant long-term. I think as a 3rd option, Grant would be a great fit. Add in Brogdon and yes you lose that cap space but not much in this FA class anyway. That roster could win the east when Embiid is healthy.A different perspective: the Portland plan all along was to use Grant to establish a salary slot that they could flip for assets. Is it going up by much though? We’re one year into the new CBA and the cap next year was already announced and it’s lower than projected. It was a slight overpay to keep Dame....
In a few years it won't with the way the salary cap is going up.

It's 5mill and the next year will be 6-7 mill probably. Is it going up by much though? We’re one year into the new CBA and the cap next year was already announced and it’s lower than projected.
Honestly, I would trade Garland for him right now. Just find a way to match salaries with LeVert. Add Reddish in the deal.still wouldn't mind at some point Lebron asks to come back and Gilbert says thanks but no thanks.
I do agree if both parties wanted to make it work we could get him.
Here’s what that looks like post trade:I get it and that does make sense. I'm not saying they couldn't give up one 1st and it wouldn't be a fair deal. Here’s what that looks like post trade:
Maxey, Melton, Grant, Batum, Embiid
Bench of
Gs - Brogdan and Pat Bev in the playoff rotation with big minutes from Brogdan. Korkmaz and Springer are depth bodies but not in the playoff rotation.
Fs - Oubre, Marcus Morris, Danuel House. The only guy I see here that can be in the playoff rotation is Oubre. The other two are break glass in case of emergency. They have flexibility here in that Grant and Batum can both play the 3 or 4.
C - BBall Paul gets the 8-10 Embiid off minutes. I’d like to see him inculcated among those forwards getting him minutes alongside Embiid. Bamba is on the roster but unplayable in the playoffs.
The real six that will play 30+ minutes for this group would be Maxey Melton Brog Batum Grant and Embiid.
I read 5 (but that’s not too different) but it was projected at around 7-7.5 million. Not a good sign that projections are off in year 1. That condition impacts the cap rise in future years.I think like 6m
So is it good enough to win the East? Obviously it depends on Embiid. Is the roster so good you would give up 2 1st's for those players? Here’s what that looks like post trade:
