I hate the fact that for whatever reason people have lost sight of the fact that drawing fouls is a skill. Getting to the line is a great advantage to be tapped into:
1. You get the opponent into foul trouble which can shorten minutes for key contributors.
2. You can get your opponent into the penalty early.
3. You earn room from the defense to get off lighter contested shots.
4. You get a built in break in the action for recovery.
5. You score points with no time coming off the clock.
6. You get the opportunity to set your half court defense and reduce the likelihood of transition or early offense.

The best scorers of all time have been able to utilize the foul line to take their game to new levels. The hatred people have for players that can draw fouls is just out of hand.

the amount of free throws is also not extraordinary. When you consider pace vs 3 pt attempts the tendencies are very similar to the 80s 90s. There is no question the game isn't as physical persay but guys who's game seeks contact will get the benefit of the stripe.
