And they haven’t really seen what the playoffs look like yet with this group. Maybe that changes the assessment of the Giddey fit with the group, either good or bad.
True.

The playoffs are a different animal.

Yeah, he only makes a little over 8 mill next season on that team option. Who are you getting back for that?

Would have to package another player or 2 in the deal. Which is possible I guess since they have a bunch of picks.

That's why he is saying to extend him

They can have significant cap space anyway so they don’t need to fatten up on salary to make a deal

So basically kawhi took less and you’re not kawhi so take a little discount too

But the clippers don’t really have leverage here

But worth a shot to save 10m per year in “how dare you actually invest in your product” tax dollars

But if they want to trade for a commensurate player for Giddey’s talent they need to pump up his salary.

I have a feeling he gone.

Man, he would work really well in Philly with Embiid and Maxey.

No they don’t

They can get upwards of 30m cap space plus giddy’s contract

That’s more than a guy of giddy’s talent

I don’t know. I’ve read him being linked to the Sixers. 3 years ago? Yes please. Now? I don’t know. He’s been banged up and he’s older. I don’t think it’s coincidence that he has a higher games played total this year looking for a contract. I think once he gets paid he goes back to being a 50-55 game a year player.

100 percent.

You guys need someone younger to throw in there.

I didn’t realize they had that much space. If that’s the case, I’m totally wrong. Giddey would allow a team trading for him to potentially shed cap space while acquiring a pick or two plus a young player with upside. I stand corrected.

He is still a really good 2 way player.

Not a great FA class. Who you getting? Not to mention Philly's season ultimately depends on Embiid staying healthy. Would not matter who you got if Embiid can't stay on the court.

Agree that this is and forever will be about Embiid. The Sixers can take on salary through trade giving picks and the team trading doesn’t have to take on salary. Have to see how it shakes out and who comes out of playoffs looking to move on and requests getting dealt.

This is a pipe dream but I’m hoping the Nets come to their senses and realize that they need to deal Bridges. I’d send all 4 first round picks for Bridges and the Nets wouldn’t have to take any salary back.

Hear me out… why not extend him and then trade him. You get to pump up the potential cap total for the team. OKC have spent at the luxury level before.
I would say that is a definite possibility. He may be willing to sign a team friendly deal of sorts.

Yep, something you fail to realize.

You know what should have been a different animal? Last night the Suns at full strength and the Thunder without their MVP candidate. But the Thunder did what they do, shot 56% and 53% from 3. Go ahead and bet on them not doing that 4 times at your own peril. Yes different animal is exactly what the Thunder are. You are on record saying the Thunder shooting would drop off, still waiting.
