My goodness. If your team needs a quarterback for 2022, you have a large and exquisite crop to pick from. 10 names are being floated around. Here are the ones to look a close eye at:

TOP FIVE POWER CONFERENCE PROSPECTS
Matt Corral, Ole Miss, 6'1, 205 pounds
Sam Howell, North Carolina, 6'1, 225
Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma, 6'1, 210
Tyler Shough, Texas Tech/Oregon, 6'5, 221
Kedon Slovis, USC, 6'3, 215

BEST OF THE GROUP OF FIVE PROSPECTS
Desmond Ridder, Cincinnati, 6'4, 215
Carson Strong, Nevada, 6'4, 215
Malik Willis, Liberty/Auburn, 6'1, 215

OTHER POTENTIAL PROSPECTS
J.T Daniels, Georgia/USC, 6'3, 210
Phil Jurkovec - Boston College, 6'5, 226

ESPN's talking heads, Mel Kipper and Todd McShay, have Howell and Rattler as their top quarterback prospects. Walter Football lists Corral, Howell, Shough, and Slovis as projected to go in round 1-3. Ridder, Strong, and Willis are seen as the best "small school" prospects.

If we were to rank them according to their 2020 passer efficiency ratings, it would go in this order: Howell (179.1), Daniels (178.5), Corral (177.6), Rattler (172.6), Strong (160.6), Shough (160.4), Willis (156.2), Ridder (152.9), Slovis (144.1), and Jurkovec (138.7).

Which ones do you like the best so far? I personally like Shough and Strong the best.

Here's Howell. He had the best passer efficiency ratings among these prospects.

It's way too soon for me to care about this but I wouldn't be shocked if the #1 pick next year is the mighty duck edge rusher and not a QB

Thibodeaux is an amazing prospect. Without a doubt, he has a great shot at going #1, barring any injury or off-the-field concerns.

My intention is simply to put out prospects we should be looking at during the college football season.

I'm a big time follower of college football and from my vantage point there's only one of the listed a first round type and that's Rattler. He is at best, a middle of the first round draft selection and nothing more.

The 2022 class is going to be one of the worse since the 2007 (Jarmarcus Russell) group. Although Rattler will make a team and most likely start, no one else on your list is first round worthy. Most are mid 2nd to top 3rd round guys which are generally backups, with one generally surprising because he ended up in a situation where fit matters more than talent. (Like Matt Jones, Ryan Tannehill etc.)

Howell and Rattler are the only ones worth a shit at this point...we will see how it plays out but that list really isn't that impressive, could be by the end of the year.

Yeah he is on my fantasy team. Still skeptical about him as a pro though. Howell didn’t start his season well but he was running for his life all game

These guys will be picked apart during the season. We might have a glut of Day 2 guys.

Goes both ways though too.

Zach Wilson likely wouldnt have even been mentioned in this thread a year ago and he went #2 overall.

To give you an idea:

There is a list from this time last year. They list out 50 QB's......and Wilson isn't one of them.

Top 100 from last year:

No Wilson.

Simple fact is that all it takes is for one of these super raw but elite talent guys that are littered across college football to put it all together to all of a sudden have a top 5 pick on your hands. Its funny how a lot of the really talented guys actually play for the small schools while most of the bigger programs often recruit lesser overall talents. An NFL plus arm isn't something a lot of bigger college programs actually chase.
