Kind of surprising on some, but I'm sure most of these guys will be signed soon....

Interesting article.

Kind of shocked Blanton hasn't been picked up. I thought he was smoke and mirrors as a reliever in KC but he looked pretty solid in LA as well.

Biggest shockers to me are Carter considering the low price for a proven power/rbi guy....and Hammel seeing as he'd be a pretty solid 3 or 4 on most teams, and probably a 2 or 3 for some other teams in need.
2 others who imho won't be FA for much longer are Fister & Wieters.

With Venturas death (and the insurance money the Royals would collect) I think he'll be a Royal within a week or two; prior they supposedly only had 2.5M left to spend. IIRC the math over the life of Ventura's contract is something like 28M? Not familiar with situations involving death; is it the same as an arm injury? And if not how are they different?

Jason Hammel will be gone soon. I really wanted the Yankees to sign him. He's a good back end of the rotation starter.

I think thats why they want the toxicology report

If he was drunk, I dont think they have to pay it, although they should pay something to the family just out of goodwill

Hammell, Fister, Lewis, Wood

Wouldn't mind the Yankees grabbing 2 of those guys for the rotation

As a matter of fact, Wood Fister is how I feel about about Black Francis' wife

Anything that keeps Matt Strahm out of the rotation and in the bullpen I am good with. Pretty low expectations for this year even before the shit sandwich last week hit.

Some good talent still out there. Surprised Carter and Weiters are still out there.

that would be a pretty bad baseball team. 4 or 5 years ago, it would be pretty good.

I would imagine Wood and Logan aren't long for the unemployment list.

I think the issue with Wood is that he wants to start, no? If he were open to a bullpen role he'd have been off the market a long time ago.

Agreed. He's a good spot starter, but I would relegate him to long relief if I were his manager.
