Would love for the Mets to scoop up Wieters but doubt they'll spend any more money. A vet Catcher (arguably top 5) would do wonders for this pitching staff and toward mentoring D'Arnaud. Although, the longer he's out there the lower his cost should get.
Mets should take a flier on him, but top 5 seems like a huge stretch. 2016 was his first season with more than 1 WAR since 2012. He played only 101 games between 2014 and 2015 and he was a pretty meh hitter in 2013/16.
He hasn't quited lived up to the whole "Mauer with power" label.
Hosmer is much better than Kotchman, I went to the same High School as Kotchman, and I'm pretty biased, but he is not on Hosmer's level.Hosmer's a glorified Casey Kotchman with a little more pop. Kotchman was better defensively though.
That Moreland contract is looking more meh by the day.
If he was a Kotchman level defender it's make more sense to me.
I gotta believe Boston has his glove rated higher than the common man metrics do.
Did they really need to back-up Hanley that badly?
I assume they'll be using the DH to give quite a few guys some "days off" without actually sitting guys. But yes, I think that will be the general rule with the lefty/righty splits. He's gonna start at 1B against RHPs.
Hanley will start at 1B against LHPs.
CBY will DH against LHPs
Hanley will DH against RHPs.
