The #2 and #4 picks in the draft will earn more money than the #1 pick

But houses in Texas are a lot cheaper than houses in Cali, so it still doesn't even out.

Correct. So there would be some variation from year to year, but that only applies to the game check portion, and as a Ram, the #1 pick would play 9+ games in California, which has the highest state income tax, each year.
The bye week counts as being paid at home so the #1 pick will pay California taxes for 10/17 weeks.

Don't NFL players get paid in the state the game is played in?

Earnings/taxes differ based on the schedule?

(Essentially I bury my money in coffee cans in the yard, so forgive my ignorance here.)

I know! I snuck over and spent an entire night digging up coffee cans from your backyard.

6+ hours digging, 19 coffee cans found containing a grand total of $2.78, an Arby's coupon (expired), a pair of women's panties (worn), an opened bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos, a broken paddle ball game, and a ball of aluminum foil.

Your retirement fund is now in my greasy hands!! Bwahaaahaaaaa!

Anyone want to wager on which of the top 4 gets the most endorsement money though? Plus, you don't have to live in Texas or Philly.

I think that is a little more dependent on position. Laremy Tunsil isn't exactly going to be getting his own shoes from Nike or anything like that but quarterback might though.

What are you saying a "franchise LT" isn't the same worth of a QB?????

I think even high profile running back taken further down in the draft has more endorsement potential than a LT.

Well if I owned a shoe company, the big boys would be at the top of the list for free shoes!

These pretty boy QB's are over hyped, and everybody know that it's the big uglies that protect the pretty boys!

Eh, they get you different ways. Texas has the highest property taxes, and California is less than half of Texas.

For a top 5 pick, that ends up being significant when you buy your castle.

Top pick will end up with better endorsement's, too, to pad his wallet.

Yes, but when they buy a million dollar home in Texas, it's more than a three bedroom, 1 1/2 bath.

They don't have to worry about free shoes. Even the guys in college get all the free shoes they want from the company that sponsors their team.

If Dallas takes Elliott i'll take that bet. And poor Goff has to move from the nice part of Cali to the crappy part. At least he'll get paid.

I can't see the Cowboys taking Elliott. They just brought in Alfred Morris and have more pressing needs on the defensive side of the ball. Ramsey, Bosa, and Jack (depending on their view of his injury) all make more sense IMO.

1 and 2 will be QBs, pretty straightforward comparison.

Those big boys tape up their ankles so heavily you can't tell what shoes they're wearing. Not exactly good for brand recognition.

Anyone with a brain. However, I'd take Texas and their more sane mindset and tax laws over California 7 days a week.

Have to agree with you. I've lived in CA all my life but it is a one party state run by a bunch of socialists. Don't get me started!

This is bazaar. Never heard of this. I'll have to look into it. I don't doubt it. I worked as a CPA for years. Did a lot of tax work. Shouldn't matter from a federal IRS perspective, but state income tax laws and reporting requirements vary greatly from state to state. I've prepared returns of numerous states. I recall New York having to prepare a local return for someone in addition to state returns.
