What kind of ego do you find in a pitcher after one inning?

I'm not basing it on JUST tonight, I'm talking about when he think he can just throw it down the middle straight as an arrow and get it past ML hitters

He does that quite often, not to mention the comments he made earlier this year

2 dead reds right down the middle? Look, I'm glad Yu is a Ranger. And I think he certainly has ace potential. But those 2 HR pitches were terrible. Benji Gil hits those out. Time to settle down and get in a rhythm.

OK, time to work on some more runs while we hope that Yu is awake after getting slapped around in his usual 1st inning sloppy pitch execution.

Overrated is subjective, but to me he's definitely an ace.
He's not the best pitcher in the AL by any means but our number one starter is definitely up there.

I agree, he just still has a number of things to work, he has too many WTF games for me to consider him an ace without question

Just hope we're in the 7th inning thinking "comfortable 5-2 lead, Darvish looking quite good now" instead of "2-2 nail-biter, if only Darvish didn't shit the bed in the 1st."

For once I think jaar has merit

Yu is overrated

He's not an ace right now with as many brain farts as he has

Definitely soon though

No one is perfect all the time. Darvish leads the majors in strikeouts and has dominated in his last few starts. And I should know- I saw him in person as he blasted through the D-Backs in his last start, mowing down 14 of them in the process

I think he still has a shot at CY. I think he's wrong about a couple years

I think a couple years is too long as well, I've seen him getting better about his pitch sequences lately, so I don't know what he was thinking tonight, especially against Trout, if Kalhoun can do it what makes you think Trout can't do it, then he did it again against Trumbo, he's just lucky he missed it

As far as CY this year, he has a shot for sure, but a CY winner is not always an ace, just a good pitcher that had a good year sometimes

Oakland drops one, we have our best team on the mound against a team that we have owned all year. Just seems like too big of an opportunity to gain ground. This is the type of game the Rangers have been terrible in.

No one is asking for perfection, but making the same mistake 3 times in 4 batters is unforgivable from an "ace" he's just lucky Trumbo missed

And I'm sure I've seen him pitch just as much as you have, I'm not basing this on a SSS

It's not unforgivable. If it happened every start then that would be one thing, but Yu hasn't given up multiple homers since his last start in the Bronx

Offense cannot score 2 runs early and then quit. I don't care how good or bad Yu looks. Gotta keep rolling.

Honestly if Yu gets it together like he usually does and our offense does its job, we'll be thinking "quality inning other than a rough start."
2 ER is never unforgivable. Now if he continues to make dumb pitches, that's a different story.

Justin Verlander has had similar struggles this year, but I don't think he is any less of an ace

Verlander's numbers do Nat say ace this year in general. Will he rebound with another epic year? Maybe, but its also possible this may be the start of his decline similar to what we've seen out of Sabathia the last two years.

Maybe darvish ego did get in the way maybe it didnt. Maybe he just missed the first time but he just grooved it to trout that's for sure
