We have talked about sunk costs in the past.
The same holds true for MLB pitching prospects

We can’t let their high or low draft position sway us whether they are destined for the pen or going to be a starter

They did spend on 2 pen pieces last year and for Urena on the cheap

I would think they would at least do the same
Now how they handle Leiter will be of interest
We have alot of pitching talent getting ready to rise up and pitch in the majors
Can’t think that every one of them will be starters right?

They can't all be starters for us, but all of them that can be starters should get that chance before being relegated to relief.

How many of them we need will depend on CY. He seems to have a penchant for spending on starting pitchers and letting the bullpen scrape by. Let's see if that changes now that we have more choices in the upper levels for the rotation.

What i don't want to see is guys like Leiter being made a reliever before being given a lengthy shot at being a starting pitcher. Let's don't do what we once did with Feliz and turn anyone into a reliever before he ever disappoints as a starter.

Leiter, Teodo, Garcia and Acker should all be starters to begin 2025. Let's not start trading them off or turning them into relievers prematurely, and then lament that we have no one to come up and make a start.

Give the young starters a chance and don't become enamored with spening free agency money on starting pitchers when our system has them. We are short in so many other areas. Spend money in those areas.

Re Semien. We may have more than one year before a decline.

Seem like Bochy has been vocal on giving him a day off and making the leadoff guy more a competition

He declined this year, but he has been up and down from year to year for a lot of his career. At some point it is going to happen for 2 years in a row, and the up and down will turn into decline.

Bratt, who is a starter, most likely starts at AA. The 5th and 6th starter would probably be someone like Ben Anderson, Krauth, Sampson, Soloman, or Brennan.

It is hard to say where Josh Stephan will start. It may depend on how well he pitches in the AFL over the next few weeks. There is also the possibility that he could be taken in Rule-5, but I doubt it.

I don't think White or Winn will have any starting role with us.

That Frisco rotation is going to be very talented, as well. Barring a substantial number of injuries, the pitching in our top 2 levels could be the most talented we have seen in quite some time.

only include him and white because not ready to list who needs to go but both are on the preliminary list

I don't think so. The same thing probably goes for Owen White, Ornelas and G. Anderson. There are probably a couple of other pitchers who should be in jeopardy as well, along with Fabian and Duffy.

Not counting guys who are free agents, I only count about 27 guys who really "deserve" 40-man spots.
