I like Eovaldi but he turns 35 in Feb. I don’t feel confident he will duplicate what he did in the fall of 23. If you bring him back then you add him to the rest of the aging starters with injuries.Either way, I wish the Eovaldi decision would be done and over with by noon tomorrow.
Your talking about hinging your hopes on a 36yr old Degrom coming back from TJ, A 30 yr old oft injured Mahle. Since 2022 its either his shoulder or elbow. Inconsistent 33 yr old John Gray who may be better in the bullpen.
Bradford has shown upside so I would rather sign several decent relievers and get the bullpen solidified and see if we can get Rocker,Acker, Teodo or Leiter ready to start. At some point we need to get some of these young pitchers with upside a chance to start.
Leiter turns 25 in April. I would think he should be ready by now. He did pitch better toward the end of the year. If he cant get it done then give an opportunity to another young pitcher. I also like M. Bratt and Z.Tiger as young pitchers with upside
