Texas Rangers 2024-2025 Offseason Thread

Every local media person I have read says Eovaldi is the Rangers' top priority. Some national guys have said that as well.

i saw those early in FA but literally nothing recent. i've heard Eovaldi linked to Boston and several other reams over the last few weeks but nothing Rangers

I have heard or read both Evan and Jeff repeat it within the last couple of days.

I was just thinking last night that this is the kind of moves we would make. I hope I am wrong.

I posted this on November 21st in regards to signing Caleb Boushley. Like I said I don't want to be right but so far it's what we have been doing.

I was talking to David Murphy last week for about 30 minutes and he seemed to think the Rangers are very interesting in keeping Eovaldi. It doesn't mean they would be successful but they need a quality starter to go with some BP pieces.

I would say no to a Monty trade. CY has got burn lately on trading for pitchers. He always gives up to much.

I love Eovaldi and I love how well he has pitched. I just think signing him will cause us to come up short in other areas, especially the bullpen.

Some can make the argument that the offense should rebound, especially if they stay healthy. I can argue that we have a rotation already with one guy extra. No one can make the argument that we can get by without the addition of at least 2 late inning guys in the pen along with one or two other bullpen pieces.

To me, that means spending on Eovaldi and going cheap on the other areas, is asking for trouble, a whole lot of trouble.

I don't understand why there is no talk of a reunion with Lorenzen. He pitched well here and even better as rhe season went on.

I agree. Rather see them spend on a quality bat to DH and play a position when needed. From what I understand they are 53 million under the luxury tax, which Davis doesn’t want to go over. You pay Eovaldi 25 million, it’s going to take almost of that.
