They need to concentrate more on pitching. In the past they have loaded up offensively which hurts them in the playoffs.
I do need find a DH. Wish they would have done something different catcher. Not go to get much offensively from what they have. Doesn’t look like they want to pay the going rate for pitching.

I was speaking of the Yankees. Just in case you thought I was speaking of the Rangers.

Well, there goes our bullpen. Lol

We now have lots of depth in the rotation and no one for the 7th, 8th or 9th inning.

We will be really good at keeping the game close for 5 or 6 innings.

We will also have a very overpaid pitcher in 2026 and 2027.

We will eventually get a decent late inning guy, but bridging that gap before the 9th is going to he the bugaboo.

I think they have around $20 million in AAV left to spend, give or take a few million depending on the source..

They will most likely go after 2 or 3 lower second tier or third tier relievers. That may leave room for a Jankowski or Grossman, but maybe bot.

At least Sasaki don't cost much.

If they would trade Mahle that would free up $16.5 million.

Bob Nightengale says the Rangers are still looking for another starter. Lol.

I love Eovaldi and I love how well he has pitched. I just think signing him will cause us to come up short in other areas, especially the bullpen.

Some can make the argument that the offense should rebound, especially if they stay healthy. I can argue that we have a rotation already with one guy extra. No one can make the argument that we can get by without the addition of at least 2 late inning guys in the pen along with one or two other bullpen pieces.

To me, that means spending on Eovaldi and going cheap on the other areas, is asking for trouble, a whole lot of trouble.
It is great to have him back. My heart thinks it is great, but my mind wonders if it is the wisest way to construct the team.

There are ways to make all of this work, but it involves trading some veterans to free up money.

Heim and Lowe would free up some but would it be enough?

The Rule 5 draft is tomorrow. I think these guys have a chance of being selected.

Crim
Magdaleno
Acker
Stephan
Garcia

All of them won't be taken, but it is still a mistake that those guys are even available to be taken. They all belong on the 40-man roster ahead of some of the guys we have there. They all should be available to help out the team next season.
I agree especially Crim

They better hope DeGrom and Eovaldi stay healthy.

I always worry about signing players in their mid 30’s.

From Shawn McFarland:

The Rangers will have two of the 10 highest-paid starting pitchers in baseball next season (based on average annual value, at least).

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees are the only other teams with multiple pitchers in the top 10.

I think there is still money to be spent

How much are you thinking they have left to spend. I am thinking the cap is right around $20 million more than where they are at now.

Evo is clutch. It is good to keep him. I bet Gray might get traded if we land Sasaki or trade salary with AZ for Monty.
Kumar still starts and Leiter first guy up

To me Mahle is the guy to trade and let Gray be the closer.
