I think trading Leody makes sense for the deadline. CY will have to pull off some magic because ownership is not in to paying luxury taxes

we can talk about trading Taveras all day and night but to trade you have to have a trade partner. i'm sure that we have made it clear since the day after the WS was over that there were players we were open to trading them

The MLBTR response about a possible Taveras trade with Cleveland is a very good non-biased way to look at his trade value. I would make that trade in a heart beat.

It isn't for a closer. Those are gone. At least not for one right now. It is to keep his contract incentives from pushing us right up against the threshold.

We may have a long term closer already in our system albeit untested at the MLB level. Not all will be starters. Keeping an eye on Skyler H

Hales, Church, and Magdaleno all have that chance. I imagine others will emerge in the system this year as well.

A lowballed trade is better than none at all though. When he walks in 10 months we will get zero for him. If he makes his incentive bonuses we will be stuck trying to reset the luxury tax again next winter.

We missed out on a good closer just to reset the luxury tax. We can't go as far as we have along these lines and come up short. That would be a huge failure.
