Should we trade Taveras and Mahle to free up money for a closer or solid BP piece?
If there are any left I think they should. If nothing else, it would give us more financial wiggle room to add someone in July.

Then there is also the return we could get for these two. Whether the pieces could help in the bullpen or be flipped for a closer at some point, the return could be very beneficial. I like those 2 relievers that the article I posted about said could be available from Cleveland for Tavares.

I have thought all along that they should have traded Mahle and probably Gray as well. Never really understood the Mahle signing. He was cheaper because he wa hurt but you dont sign injured guys for pitching depth. The move really made no sense, in that his entire year last year, was a lost season, for the most part.

I would have rather traded them both and gone with Dunning and re-sgned Heaney or gone with the young guys at the backend of the rotation. Trade Mahle, Gray and Taveras and add a legit closer, if you can still find one. Yates was the guy but they sat on their hands and did nothing.

I can understand your thought process on this. I picked Mahle because I am not sure how much we will get from him. But Gray could be very useful for us. So I am hesitant on getting rid of him.

Gray could definitely be of huge value now, if they use him to close games, since they have done nothing in that regard. Had they acted sooner in finding a closer, they could have benefitted a lot, by moving his and Mahle's contracts and freeing up some monetary obligations to address the closer need. Now they may just have to use him at the end of games and see what happens. Could workout or it could be a really bad experiment, seeing as he has no real experience closing games
