They have $16 million left before hitting the luxury tax.

I like the potential of a lot less walks.. that’s always bothered me lol

Rangers, not done with starting pitching, add Nathan Eovaldi to rotation

When Eovaldi has been healthy, he's been a very effective starting pitcher. The Rangers are counting on it as they reshape the staff.

I do not know that at all. If he is, it will make for more bullpen games eventually. Those are always helpful.

Yes, but didn’t include the $2 million signing bonus he’s reportedly getting.
They probably have about $14 million left

FWIW Evoldi does make the team better but if I had my druthers I would rather have 2 lockdown relievers on of which is a closer

Yeah, give me Odorizzi as the 5th guy and two really good relievers over Eovaldi with mediocre relievers. It would be great to have all three, but that most likely will not happen now.

A trade for Reynolds just about takes care of half of that.

I have a hard time imagining Texas being unwilling to go over since they seem hell-bent on contending next year and beyond.
Whether FA or trade, I still think a couple of significant bullpen pieces and another bat are coming.

I don't think they are going to go to such lengths to improve the rotation just to leave the bullpen untouched.
