Getting sick of this lockout. It wasn’t a big deal in December or early January, but it sucks right now.

same here and it doesn't appear that either side is interested in negotiating so we won't see anything soon

i really hope so but nothing either side is doing or saying indicates that.
They are set to meet daily all next week. Don’t think any party would invest to do this unless there were desire to settle

And I think the expanded postseason and it’s profits will be a bargaining chip to get some concessions

okay but the MLBPA has stated that they expect a 162-game season no matter what so i think the expanded post-season idea is history for now.

I’d be in favor of dropping the regular season to 150 if it expanded the postseason a little.

This begs the question do we mess with the fabric of the game and it’s sacred statistics.
Shortened season permanently?
In the past I would say no, right now I think it might need to be under consideration as so much has become tainted anyways

Maybe there is a way players get a full season pay for shortened seasons permanently but as a concession longer playoffs are added. Sure TV contracts are a factor but have to think revamp of sport has to be under consideration

never happen, owners aren't going to pay them in full for any kind of shortened season

I know that.

The players want a 162 game season this year, which means starting on time. If a deal isn't reached soon enough to make that happen, then the players will pull their support for expanded postseason from the CBA.

A shortened season is a hypothetical that fans are discussing at this point.

The idea of the players not getting paid as much for a shortened season is for one where games are canceled, like this one could have. If they agree to shorten future seasons permanently in the CBA it would not affect pay going forward.

The players don't want to get paid less in the 2022 season due to games being canceled and then have playoff games, that they don't get paid for, added to the end of the season. That is understandable.

The players would make money for being in the postseason, but that pay is meager compared to what many get for regular season games.

I just got a call from the Rangers rep that calls every year to see what my interest in ticket plans is.

I told him that until I actually know when the season starts, there are no plans. Seemed like a pretty ballsy move on the Rangers part.
