Of course OPS being the gold standard, Gallo is absolutely a player you want.

To me it is the intangibles that lessen his value. A club wants guys who hit well situationally,move the runner, Sac fly make contact when needed and do well under pressure. Unless you can do this your are not the leader of the club. Beltre did this

Still with some improvement like he did with walks Gallo is quite serviceable. He may have to change agents as his value for a long contract with past expectations has lowered. Would love to know the contract the Rangers offered

That being said he loves Texas and I could easily see a reunion here. He is just an extreme long shot to be a core player. However he could become a key producer with value if placed in a situation to succeed.

I agree. The lack of sac flies is a little mind boggling.
I do not think he would be a guy I want to build around or have hitting in the 3 hole..
I think he’s a nice complimentary piece.

I’m really looking forward to no shifts and universal DH.
I think they would help baseball a lot.
Banning the shift IMO wouldn’t be a major blow to America’s past time.. in fact, I think the shift itself has been a blow to America’s favorite last time.

He led the league in walks, hits bombs and plays great defense. Hopefully they ban the shift and he gets traded to a lower key place.
He has good years ahead.
When we traded him he had a .370+ OBP. He can run the bases well.
He would be a great #2 hitter on most mlb teams.
There’s a reason we got 4 prospects back for him.

Some act as if he is more dangerous than Covid. I can understand not wanting to sign him long term, but in our situation, if we could pick up a decent prospect just to take him off of their hands, then why not?

Well it does not bug me as Rangers are known to keep things close to vest. Maybe they should leak a few things to help negotiation? Ha but what do I know.
Still keep wondering if teams stall thinking compensatory pick will be eliminated after new CBA ratification
