Not sure I said should but if they believe he actually learned something and he has a brand new approach then I certainly can not blame that either. But yes he certainly does it appear to be a utility player.
Somewhat a gamble if you play him or release him which is another option.
Or trade him at a heavy discount
Not exactly, but you did say,"I am ok with Odor starting at 2B and batting eighth so long as he does not block Solak And if he slumps sit him early."

When I asked you how early is early you clarified it with, "A wild guess in the dark is 30 days if Odor slumps out of the gate."

That is why I said, "You said they would and should give him an opportunity at the beginning of the season and then bench him a few weeks into the season if he struggles again."

More injury prone and high era 4.84. Just what we need.
His problems this past season were not injury related. He got E. coli helping feed the poor in the Caribbean last offseason and never regained his strength. Then he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and missed some time with that during the season. When he last was at full strength in 2018, his ERA was well south of 4.00.

Read he was injured. Glad that was wrong. Being sick is bad enough but hopefully he will get better as did Jake

Seems like we couldn't wait for football season to start for the same kind of reason. Lol
I thought JD was supposed to start soon. Guess I was wrong.

The top free agents have yet to sign so it is still early. The meetings in early December are when a lot of moves usually get made. I think we signed Beltre just after New Year's.

How someone not associated with the Rangers views Wheeler.

The Blue Jays need a home run in free agency, but the pitching market is a dangerous game | The Star

Earlier this season, the speculation was that Wheeler would be in line for a five-year deal around $75 million (all dollars U.S.). By the end of 2019, MLB Trade Rumors was projecting a five-year deal in the vicinity of $100 million. The latest reports, including from Dan Hayes of The Athletic, suggest the asking price might be even $20 million higher.

Whatever team signs Wheeler will be taking a massive risk. A front office will bank on the notion that Wheeler’s best work is yet to come and that his checkered health is a thing of the past. Wheeler made 60 starts over the last two seasons, but prior to that he had a litany of injuries including a stress reaction in his right arm, biceps tendinitis and Tommy John surgery.

There are a lot of red flags and just as many teams that won’t care. No matter what the issues are, organizations will be lining up to bet on the arm.

So, speculation is, Wheeler will get 5 years at an AAV of $24 million.
