I’m skeptical that the angels are a big player for Rendon.

they still have Albert and trouts mega deals, they are also rumored to be going after Gerrit Cole hard who will cost them an arm and a leg.

Texas, Halos, Washington DC, NYY, LAD...
Those coveting Rendon are LAD, DC and TX.. We have a pretty good shot unless Dodgers go all in

I never said the highest bidder always acquires the asset. The White Sox were the highest bidders for Wheeler and they didn't get him. There is nothing you can do about that.

Rendon is no Josh Hamilton. No comparison.

I am saying you will give management a free pass if we are outbid for him.

I said there is nothing you can do if you bid the most and he chooses somewhere else. You can't blame anyone for that.

I’ve heard rumors that the nationals think they could possibly only keep one of Strasburg / Rendon.

let’s hope they focus on keeping Strasburg first. If the nationals signed strasburg, the angels might still be zeroing in on Gerrit Cole. if Cole goes to the Yankees, the angels might join in on the Rendon chase.

hopefully all of this is moot and Rendon wants to come back to Texas. I really don’t care what we pay him. In this business you gotta take risks to be good. Fielder and Choo were both pretty bad deals, but I feel good about how this one would probably go.

Some of mine are ARod, Ryan, Zisk, Palmeiro, Beltre, and Rogers.

I am not counting Yu since it was a completely different process.

I do think if we wanted Strasburg and Rendon that we would have no problem pursuing both. We would have problems convincing both, but no problems doing the actual pursuing.

okay logical but I was looking at previous posts where it was discussed that we couldn't afford Rendon and Cole/Strasburg and that maybe we should look at the next tier below them and look to sign 2 or 3 starters capable of giving us 150+ innings to ill the rotation

don't like this suggestion. why sign 2 and then trade Minor or Lynn? logic escapes me. sounds like signing off the season before it even starts

Did he not also say perhaps moving Gallo if we move our best pitching?

Guess the issue is determining when our window is to contend at a high level
