The Baseball Prospectus Top 101 Prospect List for 2019 is out, and the Texas Rangers have four players who cracked the list.

Outfielders Leody Taveras and Bubba Thompson are the top two Rangers on the list, sitting back-to-back at the back end of the top 50, with Leody checking in at #47 and Bubba at #48.

Taveras and Thompson will likely both start the 2019 season at high-A Down East, where they will likely be joined by the #78 prospect on the BP list, center fielder J.P. Martinez. With three top 100 center field prospects in one outfield, Down East should be a fun team to watch, and its not out of the question one or more of these guys could end up in Frisco before 2019 is up.

Finally, shortstop Anderson Tejeda is at #83 — he will be in Frisco to start 2019, most likely, and if the Rangers don’t find a long-term solution at third base in the next offseason, I wouldn’t be surprised if the team looks at moving Tejeda to the hot corner.

The Rangers also placed a couple of pitchers, Taylor Hearn and Cole Winn, in the “next ten” group, with BP identifying them among the group that just barely missed the cut.

Finally, Sherten Apostel and Joe Palumbo are among ten players BP identifies as being candidates to crack the 2020 Top 101 Prospect List, though with Palumbo, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not prospect-eligible next season.

Really lacks credibility to omit Hans C
Yes, for BP that is very surprising. From the Adam Morris article it seems they have Palumbo, Hearn and Winn all ahead of Crouse. That is strange indeed.

Sometimes the guys at Fangraphs really seem out of touch with reality.

To me what is ironic is FanGraphs ever giving Rangers any credit. Guess with Seattle on the tank things are being rethought....but yes with only Minor and Lynn with the only realistic expectations to be real inning eaters.... hmmm need pitching to contend.
Maybe some of our minor league depth can step up second half

This season should still be more interesting than last year.

Last year we were dealing with a stale manager and coaching staff.

This year, we’re focusing on keeping the payroll under control and developing players with a new coaching staff / manager and a new ballpark coming very soon.

Second half of season will be great seeing some new young pitching talent come up

I like Woody's approach here.

Of course he should be the closer in general but was wondering if the approach might bring him in earlier if a high leverage situation.

Why the need to make the announcement? Don’t understand

So literally minus the manager, exactly the same? the season will be more interesting bc we have a new manager? STFU

The tradition of using your best reliever as a closer is pretty well entrenched in the game. That is, unless you spend a lot of money on a veteran reliever and refuse to give up on him. lol

That one went over my head. Surely you are not referencing Dyson
Maybe Giles or even Kimbrell who was overused fits that mold.
