Weather does not look good for the potential of getting this game even started let alone official. And Thu might even be worse.
Asking wash to consider logic is like asking a pig to bake you a birthday cake.
TEX lineup tonight ...
Kinsler
Andrus
Beltre
Cruz ... four RH bats in a row front of ...
AJ
Murphy
Moreland
Martin ... four LH bats all in a row in front of the pitcher
Grimm
Villanueva's 2013 split against LHB ... .125/.222/.125/.347 and against RHB ... .250/.280/.417/.697 indicates that for this year a reverse split exists ... certainly bringing to question starting four LHB all in a row.
Murphy's 1 for 10 against Villanueva versus Baker's 3 for 5 is another indication of the flawed TEX R vs L mindset.
Does TEX do any advance scouting against future opponents? Or maybe Wash chooses to ignore it?
I guess having 9 #42's in a row in the line up last night escaped everyone but me.
No ... you know I picked up on it too. Personally I think its stupid to have 50 guys walking around the field all wearing 42. What was nuts was on Gameday all the players there were listed as #42 too.
Buzz and TAG were concerned they would misidentify Cub players because in addition to wearing 42 like TEX they didn't have names. (Some team I saw on MLB was wearing 42 but had their names on their uniform like normal ... which I think defeats the whole thing).
I think it is valuable for the heritage of the game to annually recognize Jackie Robinson but it is equally important to recognize Larry Doby.
If putting numbers on uniforms is accepted as a valuable recognition for the heritage of the game ... fine. I think it is kind of lame. But if that is what it is to be then NL teams ought to wear a "42" on their sleeve on April 15th ... and AL teams ought to wear a "14" on their sleeve on July 5th.
I admire and respect what Jackie Robinson did and went through, but a couple of years of the 42 thing would have been Ok with me. Last night was kinda dumb with no names on Cubs jerseys and everybody wearing #42. Especially for AL fans who seldom watch the Cubs.
Agree. Some other questions ...
Wonder if the 42 on Mo's shirt is his 42 or one of the pressed on 42's everyone else had to wear?
How come the 42 isn't a Brooklyn Dodger thin blue font?
When will MLB recognize Masanori Murakami and everyone wear a "10"?
How about Win Remmerswaal and everyone wear "49"?
I can already see what direction this game is headed in. Peace!
