Not many college defenses run tight man to man on the corners, so the coaches that teach it are in high demand. Hope they hire a better replacement.

JJM I think you are dead wrong here. I feel like I've heard a lot of people bitch for a long time about how we have so much money but won't spend it on assistant coaches. I for one was happy when TJ got a raise to get to the point he was at whenever that was. Money should not be an issue with our program. Coaching is not like other careers where you can have a reasonably good idea that you will still have a job in coming years. In college football, it is one or two bad seasons and you are out on your ass. I don't blame him one bit for looking for more money. Is our fan base really that entitled that we think coaches should want to be here because "we're Nebraska" and we shouldn't have to pay market value for them? Good for TJ. I hope he does well, I just wish we could have kept him around.

Oh, and JJM, TJ is one of those guys in his office well past when everyone else left watching film and stuff. I saw it.

He didn't earn it.

We all went home at 5 every day when I worked there. The only people who stayed were a few coaches. We had no duties that late.

A coach from inside the state might have more loyalty to the program but those a far and few. Even T.O. was tempted with Colorado and the Houston Oilers.

I don't think it's a "care more about" factor.

It is an important factor though in anyone's career, football or not.

Maybe Terry Joseph doesn't think he'll ever win anything big at Nebraska?
Maybe it is about "winning", and the money is secondary. Of course he's not going to say something like that and burn a bridge.

I just find it really odd when a coach comes out and says, "It's all about the money baby........gimme dat money and then we'll talk........money money money! Love dat money."

Rubs me the wrong way for some reason :noidea:

Wasn't Bo like a Packer linebacker coach b4 coming to Nebraska? All coaches want mo money, even the head coaches that will never spend it all...sad but true story.

I guess I don't see the problem with it, especially in this case. Why would he turn down a 25% raise? Loyalty? To the school that half the damn state tried to get the head coach fired? If Bo were to get fired he has ZERO guarantee that he even has a job with whoever the new coach would be.

On the other hand, A&M's defense was terrible. He can go in and show small improvements and be kept around. That's job security right there.

I do agree we need to stay competitive in salary but there's a line somewhere, idk what our budget is regarding that, the sec pay scale is just getting out of control at some point something has to give out, giving TJ a 50-100k raise to keep him just opens up the floodgates for every coach and asst.

Im not happy he's leaving at all however I thought his comments to the press before he even met with SE and Bo was in poor taste but whatever, best of luck to him

Now that Too Old isnt in there snirking his nose down at Marvs infidelity, and limiting salary options, i do believe Marv could come back and TJ woulda got his money if earned

I just don't get his logic in that, of course they more than likely were aware of the whole situation before TJ went on record, in any event he hadn't met with either of them face to face yet however so I still don't see any advantage for him to make his demands public prior to
