Titans trade up to #8 to take OT Jack Conklin. Swapped first round first rounders with Cle, gave up a 3rd and a 2017 2nd round pick. Also got a 6th rounder.
Pick is solid but I was hoping Stanley would have slid a bit further. The trade looks like we gave up too much because immediately afterwards, the Bears trade up with the Bucs and only gave up a 4th rounder to do so. Not sure I like giving up the 2nd rounder
#33 DE/OLB Kevin Dodd
#43 DT Austin Johnson
#45 RB Derrick Henry
#64 S Kevin Byard
Eh...not really feeling it so much. Being so terrible and likely not going to improve much next season anyway, I would have liked to see them take a chance on a player with more upside like Myles Jack or Noah Spence. Dodd and Johnson will probably be ok players but likely just that, ok. Felt like the team was just going for singles instead of taking a big swing to drive in some runs, ya know?
I don't like the Henry pick with DeMarco Murray on the team. Guy was pissed at his carries last year and now you draft another work horse RB? You're just inviting drama. And next year has potentially loads of good RBs in the draft so why not ride Murray this year to see what he's got and if he looks sluggish, take someone like Chubb, Fornette, whoever, next year? Wasn't a pressing need here imo.
Warmack didn’t mention him by name, but he was obviously referring to former Titans offensive line coach Bob Bostad in comments about an ex-coach whose teaching Warmack thinks didn’t provide him much help.
“I had one dude who played D-III football at linebacker. And he’s teaching me how to play offensive line? If there’s nothing wrong with that, you tell me,” Warmack told Pete Prisco of CBS. “I play offensive line. I don’t play linebacker. I definitely didn’t play D-III football. Not knocking D-III schools out there. We’re talking about the highest level of football in the world. And you have a guy who has never put his hand in the dirt teaching me how to block. You don’t think there’s anything wrong with that? I appreciate a coach who is open-minded to questions and comments. They don’t want to hear a question that questions their philosophy. When they are closed-minded, it stunts the growth of the offensive lineman.”
There may be some merit to Warmack’s complaints, and the fact that Bostad is now the tight ends and fullbacks coach at Northern Illinois suggests that he didn’t have any other teams interested in his services as an offensive line coach when the Titans fired him this year.
You guys are looking solid. Most well rounded team in that division, and right now I'm picking you guys to win it. Only team with an identity right now. Great run game, great O-line and a very solid defense.
The team the Bears are trotting out today is comical. Practice squad QB in Matt Barkley, practice squad WR's, practice squad TE and practice squad Oline. Jordan Howard is our only starter healthy.
It was a bit frustrating that the game was close, but I am happy that the Titans won the game, entering the .500 mark before the bye week. Keep winning guys! #TITANUP
I am very happy that the team is finally playing like contenders right now. The defense is playing very well, Murray has been a powerhouse and Mariota has been impressive in his second year in the NFL. Today was a huge victory for them.
Well shit. Didn't show up to play at all against a garbage team and it gets topped off with Mariota breaking his leg halfway thru the game. What a pooptastic way to end the season. Oh well. It was still a successful season all things considered.
