Surprised this never got a thread.

Animation was a little off to me but overall it was a fun time. Definitely a new take that I can see rubbing some people the wrong way.

If you’re not a fan of changing the source material to update things then you’ll hate it but if you can go in knowing it’s for a younger generation but also they have some fun callbacks to older movies you’ll get a kick out of it.

It doesn’t look as good as the early 2000s cartoon

I never really got into TTMNTs, so I will skip this just as I did all the previous movies.

But I just saw something that explains that the writers wrote the series with their own head canon that it took place in the Marvel universe. Apparently the 4 Turtles were “created” in the same accident that gave Matt Murdoch his “powers”. The chemicals that splashed on the young Matt also spilled into the sewers, getting onto 4 young turtle that were living there.

Since Marvel never acquired the TMNT title, the story never became actual canon, it was always written with that assumed origin story.

Definitely a weird timeline where a TMNT movie has Jackie Chan and a Trent Reznor soundtrack. The song titles crack me up, btw. I feel thats enough for me to watch this at some point. I thought the 2007 movie was solid back in the day. Gotta agree that visually this movie doesn't interest me that much but TMNT was my childhood.

That 2007 one was fun

The 03 tv series (streaming on paramount) was a lot of fun

I wasn't aware of the TV series, tbh.

Its weird they changed the art style so much with Mutant Mayhem. They came out with a new TMNT video game last year and they tried to keep the art style similar to the older way because most gamers see that type of visual as timeless. I guess I cant judge the new movie's visuals without seeing it.

I think the art style is definitely inspired by movies like Into the Spiderverse with its storyboard look.

it's from like 2003-2008.

it's first few seasons in particular are really good.

I'm trying to get the Ps2 games for them. I got the first one when it came out way back when, it was a lot of fun, but basically impossible by yourself

Are you talking about the game that came out for the switch?

Yeah, there is a game called TMNT: Shredder's Revenge which is functionally a sequel to the old TMNT arcade style beat em ups like Turtles in Time.

It was very well done.

The animation is awesome.

Having actual teens as the turtles which is like never done, worked wonders. Also, I saw Seth Rogen interviews where he had them record their sessiosn together rather then seperate so they could play off one another and you could really tell. It made it a lot better.

The OG TMNT movie is pretty underrated IMO. It had a dark tone with some beautifully shot scenes.

The only reason I will ever bother to check it out is Rogan. I love his humor, but this looks really bad from an outside, haven't seen yet perspective.

The original was really good. The abominations that came after it are what people will remember tho. Think Rambo.

This was pretty good. Sounds like there's gonna be more (another movie and a possible TV show) and if this is the direction they're going in, I'd be pretty happy with it.

Cynthia Utrom is definitely gonna become Krang some time down the line. Not only does she have the colors and visor, but "Utrom" is literally the name of Krang's race in other TMNT properties [/spoilers]
