I think Ginn may be more valuable than Williams as a wideout. Ginn's a good weapon to have in certain packages IMO. I've yet to see Williams prove he can do anything all that well.

...actually he seems like a pretty good route runner. I'll give him that.

Finally some good news!

I'm a little sad it's only for 1 year (like I was with Rogers last offseason), but I'll take it!

I hope your being sarcastic because we had 1 of the best off seasons since I can remember. Resigned every1 on defense, resigned our QB, and added Randy Moss, Mario Manningham and Perrish Cox who is underrated

Williams is the best slot reciever on the roster.

No I'm not being sarcastic, and that's all I'll say about that because I don't want to get into the other subject.

Who is the odd man out then? I cant see them drafting a WR early if they want him to battle it out for a spot. If it is that early we pick a WR then its most likely assumed he makes the team barring some crazy incidents.

Kyle williams odd man out then? I liked him as our WR and thought he was catching everything thrown his way. Harbaughs offense doesnt seems to be the one with 6 WR on the team.

Moss is no lock to make the team either.

True. I feel he is going to have a good yr tho. Last chance to prove he still has it with a great locker room presence.

I'm surprised by this signing. I sort of assumed the Niners wouldn't take him back even if he asked because of the Cox signing and Ginn having no WR potential.

Completely disagree with your assessment of Ginn being more valuable at WR than Williams except on end arounds, and I can't assess value to Ginn because of 1 play where he doesn't even catch a pass.

Agree with you about Williams route running tho.

Yeah after his NFC title game last year Im surprised he's not running a paper route right now..maybe he will be doing that shortly if we draft a big WR
for the future.

Those are the kinds of plays where Ginn is valuable, but there are others. Did you see how far the DB was off him on a slant (think it was a slant) in the playoff game against the Saints where he got the first down?

He's a good weapon to have, IMO, but Kyle hasn't proven anything to me yet (except that he's a good route runner & shouldn't be allowed within 500 yards of a punt).

If we get rid of Williams it will bite us in the ass in the end. He will be a good receiver. I loved what I saw from him last year. He has good hands (as a receiver, not returner). He is also a good route runner, he will learn from Moss as well hopefully the good not bad

I'm curious what people have seen in Kyle Williams to make them believe he'll be a good WR.

Also, what kind of expectations do you have of him on a year to year basis interms of the depth chart and yardage / TDs?

John Clayton can suck it now!

This is a good move, Top 5 return guy like someone noted, and you can trust him to not drop the rock. Plus with all the WR on the squad now, he won't be an every down WR.

Someone needs to post that video of Williams taking a little slant from Smith and burning everyone for a 55 yard td - and juxtapose that with Ginn taking a perfect pass through his hands and off his dome for an INT.

That doesn't really answer the question.
