Hmm - that story about Bailey kind of sounds like the whole deal with SM and Diane Russini. Is there any way that we can possibly arrange a setup where we can dupe Allen & get his ass out of DC? Please someone tell me that this is possible.

Yeah, to this day I'm no closer one way or the other on knowing if the story is true or if it was just the machinations of a Redskins fan who was pissed at Champ for leaving.

right now with the HC in turmoil i think signing of KC will be up in the air . my feeling is doug williams will get a season or 2 to be scapegoated and then thrown to the wolves protecting allen and his failed policies

I could see Kirk in Denver for their 1st this year and a 3rd next year. Elway is there. They have a team that is ready to win now, and I could see Mike Shanahan brought on as a consultant..ie....work with Kirk on film and what not.

One thing that's certain, San Francisco is no longer in the QB market. For all who said that Garp wasn't "that" guy when the talk turned to him as a possible replacement for Kirk, I'll just say this, take another look at the guy. There's an excitement there because Niners believe that they have their guy!!

Agreed, Denver is one place that he could land, but I'm sticking with the team that he played against today as the odds on favorite to get him. Yep, even over his current team, because I don't believe that there is an amount, no matter how outrageous, that Kirk will sign for here.

Yeah, Cards are number 2 on my list, followed by the Skins who are a distant 3rd at this point imo

If Bruce sticks to his usual game plan, he will offer Kirk the deal he should have offered last year. Then again I dont think they want to keep Kirk long term under any circumstance.

If the Skins make Kirk a REAL offer and he still waffles, move on.

The problem is......what's a "REAL offer?" BTW: whatever it is, I don't believe that Kirk accepts it. Dude wants out, money, especially since he already has plenty, is not going to be enough!

In fact, I hope that as a condition to signing here, Kirk want Bruce gone! Under that condition and ONLY that condition, do I see Kirk considering, not signing but merely thinking about, an offer here.

A real offer would be what the Lions gave Stafford plus a little extra. If he turns THAT down, you have your answer. Tag and trade asap.

I haven't watched any Frisco games and its just 3 games, but from the stats. It looks like Garp is A) accurate, over 68% and B) throws the ball down the field, 8.9 ypa, with 3 TDs/2 INTs. If the 9ers win these last 2 games, and it'll be no easy task, against the Jags and Rams and close with a 5 game winning streak. They'll be geeked big time for next year in Frisco.

You're right, Kyle and Co. are really putting something good together out there. In fact these are the losing margins prior to Garp: (note that the close loss games indicated by the 3, 2, 3, 3, 2 streak included a 2 pt. loss to us)

20, 3, 2, 3, 3, 2, 30, 23, 10, 10, 11,

........And with Garp in as QB the losing stopped and became these margins in victory.

1, 10, 2,

BTW: I don't watch any of their games either, but I do check certain guys progress especially since they have often been a point of contention on our boards.

I think experience is well over played in these instances. I'm sure that almost everyone here would take Cousins and his 60 games played over Flacco and his 138 games played just to make that point. BTW: I also think that growth/development fit the same category. Every year we see players who come into the league who are already head and shoulders better than the current placeholder despite that players growth/development.

Pretty much sums it up. Denver is a real possibility, life without Kirk could suck, and the 28 million dollar transtion tag is looking more likely.

In A Nut Shell

Since the Redskins won the Super Bowl after the 1991 season, the franchise has drafted 13 quarterbacks. That includes four at various spots in the first round -- two in the top five and two in the bottom seven; three in the fourth; four in the sixth and two in the seventh.

One of those picks has panned out: Cousins.

At this point, a long-term deal really isn't up to Washington anyway. That ship sailed two years ago. The Redskins can control Cousins on one-year deals, but for anything beyond that Cousins must believe the organization can build long-term success. Otherwise, the only way he ever returns is under a tag -- whether it's the franchise tag (too expensive at $34.5 million) or the transition ($28 million).

But you don't need to look at Gabbert or Denver as reason to fear the alternative. You just need to look at the Redskins' past 27 years.
