If KC was offered $53 million guaranteed to make his full salary $72 million in May and he turned it down, what makes you think he will sign for less than what he will make if he gets tagged again next year? He will make almost $35 million next year if he plays under the tag again. Doesn't seem like KC wants to play in Washington for the long term.

the article says they have the option to transition tag him @ 28.8 or another team can be silly and offer him 30 mil per which the Redskins will then have the option to match ... either way its the Redskins decision to make.

correct ... this year tag number + next year transition tag number = guaranteed $$$ Cousins agent was asking for

its not what the Redskins offered of course.

Cousins believes in his ability and if given the opportunity to hit the market would be able to maximize his value.

However, he is getting older & a long term deal provides Cousins with a security blanket against injuries ... or a down year, say if his OC & two leading receivers change teams & they have diddly squat at RB

he gets 24 this year and then 28 next guaranteed according to the contract

so this year and next year are guaranteed at which point the team can release him with no real penalty

so tell me why would he sign that ?

then allen decides to do a presser throwing him under a bus before the real details of the contract come out
