Lordy .... tough one. I think the team is best at DT ... I don't do all the cap figuring like dad does. Jon had a very good year this past year. I can't get the image out of mind of Philly putting him on his back twice in one game this past year. I like Matt and Daron but the team will likely let Payne go or trade him. The FO rarely gets value for anyone so not too sure they will do that.

The absolute perfect fit for a Turner offense. Ron has been stressing quick twitch, arm talent, mobile, and leadership. Fits all those categories. Babyface to start off the re-brand.

I tender that this defense has vastly underperformed this year and our running game is pretty good.

also Oline in Seattle has been a forever issue.

Devils advocate. What are the chances of getting Payne signed to a LTD now?

After the blowup and him removing anything Skins from his social media, what are the chances they can talk him into a LTD?

Can we afford to play the Cousins/Scherff game with him?

Can we afford to do the Trent thing and take a comp 3rd?

I'm open to keeping Payne. Just wanted you guys thoughts.

well we have the money to resign him mac sweat and CY and even BS . its about choices . letting good players walk isnt a good thing it breeds instability .

if you play the KC/ BS game you are looking at comp picks if you arent active in FA

your only choice are to resign him or let him go and hope you have settle and ionman under contract to make up the short fall the way settle plays you need a good MLB ( more on that in another post ) . this is the year to get DT's so that could be on the draft needs list

you can pay them all because the new revenue coming in will allow for it . the money is there and will be there as we stand now . the new cap figure will also go up this year as it isnt final

not knowing much about the cap makes a lot of acquisitions suggested on here laughable and all these " why didnt we get this guy ? "

wilsons cap hit for 2022 is 37 mil , and 40 mil 2023

that means you will have about 14 mil in cap space in 2022, you wont be active in FA but now add to it the draft picks /players it will cost . we have only 6 pick this year and guys like tmac , wont get extended and keeping JD , carter and others and then hammering out several 1st round picks and 2nd rounders , 3rd rounders you wont be able to bring in young talent for several yrs

the depth of the team will fall off so RW will have to carry the load . 4-7th round picks wont make up the shortfall as seatle has shown

to me the road is clear if you are looking for sustained success

now you can cut a collins and get 9-13 mil but you lose talent at a weak position davis would have to take his role and next yr wes on the o/line will need to be resigned

I believe there were solid offers on kerrigan and Trent, with Kerrigan we turned it down and i believe with Trent, we tried to play hardball and lost.
If a team offered a 2nd, Payne would be getting introduced holding his new team jersey before i hung up the phone.
Iroman appears to be as effective as Payne and there are some solid DT options in the draft, if Settle walks.
That's just IMO

I dont think we could even get a 2nd for Payne right now. Maybe a 3rd and 4th. That's why if I trade Payne I'm trying to package him with picks for a qb or hold on to him.

you arent winning if you keep drafting 1st rounders just to turn them into 2nd rounders . if you want to trade payne then fine , get a 1st for him
