If Jadeveon Clowney, Jr., DE, South Carolina has another year like last year. He will win.

Clowney 54 tackles (40 solo), 23.5 tackles for loss, 13.0 sacks and 3 forced fumbles for 2012 season.

Talking about matching years? If AJ matches last year, he wins!! If nothing else as a career achievement award. That has happened in the past. Like Crouch.

T Magic all day.

Assuming it's like JJM says and he's learned to hold onto the football.

That post I made about him winning hands down was actually sarcastic in the heat of the moment......but looking back at it now it sure does look like I was being serious.

I agree, the field is very stacked......even more stacked than I originally thought.

I still believe though, that if either Ohio State or Nebraska goes undefeated, the Heisman will follow that team. I think there are just too many voters who still follow the traditional way of thinking.....that it takes a QB or a really good RB from a winning team to win the Heisman.

ESPN has been pimping the shit out of Taylor this summer though. They have replayed and gushed over that run against Wisconsin probably 50 times. On CFB Live Jessica Palmer even went as far as to say no player in College Football could make that run other than Taylor. So folks still think he is a magician.

1 play from last year. That's it? It will take more than 1 big play to win the Heisman.

Yes, it will probably go to a big time QB or RB on a winning team. That is why McCarron will win it in my opinion and Taylor will not.

Clowney is a more legit contender than Suh was.

At this point comparatively speaking, yes.

Clowney is gonna be playing not to get hurt this year. Too much money to lose.

I'm not even one of the guys saying he's gonna win! Look at the poll.....8 of us think he goes to New York.

If Nebraska is 8-0 heading into Ann Arbor, and you are going to try and tell me that Taylor won't be in the mix, then you have lost your sumbitchin mind.

As a Freshman he was in the race after beating a terrible Washington team and a horrid Kansas State team.

Then what happen one loss to Texas and he was out

Even tho he pick apart okie st to a Johnny football tune of over 300 passing and 100 rushing

I think he has a chance but teams will start going away from his side like teams did to him in high school

It is a long shot that Taylor could win the award......

But I don't really understand why it's such a long shot for him to make the ceremony. He's a 4 year starter who has made explosive runs several times in his career.....everyone in the nation knows about him. If he has a good year and we are winning games, there is no way the media is going to miss out on that opportunity to hang on his nutsack and get the attention of our ridiculous fanbase.

But you are saying all this as if Nebraska is still relevant. It is painful to say but they just aren't.

1. We're in the bigten last to win it was Troy smith
2. We're not SEC
3. Weak schedule
4. Not the 90s
5.wont go undefeated
6. Way to stack of heisman pool of players

I mean we could go undefeated and Taylor still might not win it. We're not "media program " anymore.
I would love for tmart to win it sucks he will go down as one of the most statistical Neb qb not to win conference champ or national title.

But he's gonna need help this year it's stack just look at the list from pac12 still got east coast and SEC love fest to.

This is on Facebook from Huskers Illustrated

Las Vegas (Bovada) has Taylor Martinez 18-1 to win the Heisman Trophy this year, the 13th best odds in college football. Interestingly enough, Ameer Abdullah is slotted just two spots below Martinez at 25-1. He shares those odds with Brett Hundley of UCLA and Miami quarterback Stephen Morris.

Look, plain and simply.......if Nebraska wins those first 8 games, which they are capable of doing, Taylor isn't going to be viewed as a darkhorse.......he's gonna be a contender at that point.

Easy schedule works in his favor......pad the stats, and then go head to head right at the perfect time of year with Braxton Miller.

Well last years pre season heisman nominees were stacked as well with Geno Smith, Matt Barkely, Manti Teo, Landry Jones,Honey Badger etc. And then stuff started to happened either injuries, bad games, not enough wins, drug problems which paved the way for Colin Klein, Johnny Manzel to enter the race

To be honest, I agree with the no's.....

I mean, as I said I am analyzing Taylor's chances of making it to New York at about 33%. So basically, according to even myself, the odds are far better that he doesn't even make it at all......

So please, don't ye all go thinking I'm trying to get you to believe it is actually going to happen. The whole purpose of this thread really was to create a discussion. I appreciate all of your inputs thus far :yo:
