As bad as Buttercup's rep is with the fans and his opponenets, look at his stats and record. He has very few PIM's and I don't think he's ever been suspended. He just likes to hit a lot.

As far as Oilers fans are concerned, a lot of them want Tambellini gone, but they fail to recognize the true problem which is Kevin Lowe. Nobody can convince me that he isn't the true GM of the team (he promoted himself to president if you recall). This is a guy who had no experience as a general manager prior to being handed the Oilers job.

/I still hope Regier (probably won't be around long enough though) or some other GM puts in an offer sheet for RNH or Justin Schultz if the Oil fail to lock them up.

I agree totally.
He,along with guys like Rinaldo,Torres,Cooke are all tagged. That one dirty hit, questionable hit,or suspension, now means that anything that is borderline will not go in their favor.

Is this representative of the Edmonton hockey community and Oilers fans in general?

Edmonton is the new Dallas in my book.

I just hope J Schultz stays healthy this season until the Ducks come to town.

he's not even the worst. I dare you to read some Dan Tencer

they are not a difficult team and fanbase to dislike.
it starts with the decades-old "City of Champions" sign on the edge of town.

the young media is very intensely homeristic ... they think they play on the team ... dont know if its because they are in isolation separated by the rest of cdn civilization by snow forts

and the older members of edmonton media are senile and think that they manage the team ... and from the bits i read from them ... alot seem like management mouthpieces (ie Kevin Lowe feeds them info to get his narrative across)

/and Im sorry if this got posted but Jim Matheison from the other day

senility ??? or leaking the fact edm tampered on Schultz ???

Did Jim Matheson Out the Oilers? - The Copper & Blue

"The Gilbert-Schultz trade seems a win-win for both teams, which is often not the case. The Wild wanted a puck-moving defenceman and the Oilers wanted a shutdown guy to play alongside prized rookie Justin Schultz." - Jim Matheson

:twitch:

You're seriously implying that Cooke got an unfair reputation from one dirty hit?

Was that the Anisimov suspension? Or the Walker suspension? Or the Savard hit that prompted a rule change? Or the Tyutin suspension? Or the McDonagh suspension?

Man oh man, the Ducks should go after this as hard as they can.

You can bet their newly hired mouth piece will not let this go quietly into the night.

By the way, after Saturday's game against Phoenix, the Oil go on a nine game road trip.

With the 1st pick in the 2013 draft the Edmonton Oilers select: Seth Jones D Portland Winterhawks WHL.

I'm done as a fan if this scenario plays out.

Might as well have the lottery being conducted by David Stern in that case.

Include Allan Mitchell in the David Staples and Dan Tancer category...

You have three choices: watch and lose, run away or stand up and defend your ground. Last night’s hit was a long time coming, the Wild have been beating the Oilers about the face and hands since Boogaard and before. Whatever else happened last night, at least one Minnesota Wild player is going to have his head on a swivel next time. No pantywaist’s on the Oiler side, brother.

It’s all good.

:burt: at the name of that blog.

It could also, more aptly, be called Lowepoint.ca or Loweexpectations.ca
