So what happens next time these 2 teams meet?

A: 2 goons go at it which at the end of the day resolves nothing
B: Hall winds up getting his ass kicked for it or winds up taking a heavy hit
C: There is collateral damage and another Oiler winds up getting leveled
D: Nothing

yah looks like sub 5 games but gotta think the nhl is gonna wait to determine the extent of Clutterbucks injury on this one after whats happened with Hossa

(ie Hossa is playing tonight)
hearing is in two hours, so ... not so much.

only thing I can say is different is Porter had his leg out for almost 5 to 7 feet before the collision. Hall just lined him up for the hit and went knee to knee LATE after the puck was gone. split seconds yes but knee to knee. hard to prove intent on this one but so reckless by their very own definition and precedent at LEAST 2 games and max 4

Hall isn't helping himself with his post game comments. something along the lines "I thought this was better than hitting him in the head".
shows he had time to consider what he was dong.

I'll go with B & it will be Clutterbuck doing the ass kicking.

I mean the time between the hearing and the time they announce the suspension length ... they used "Hossa was injured" as a determinging factor in the Hansen suspension

They had the Hansen hearing and bang ... suspension announced in 3 hours

and Hossa is playing tonight

The Coilers need two young, straight-forward guys in their top 6 forwards. Guys who skate hard and just go the net. Ironically they need a young Ryan Smyth type of player or two.

David Staples ‏@dstaples
Consensus is that the #Oilers need a big forward in a trade.... Wonder if Dustin Penner is available? Or if he'd come here happily

I watched last night's game Dash and that kid, along with RNH and Eberle were dragging their asses defensively. Say what you want about Hall; he is kinda out of control and a hazard to himself and apparently others, but he competes hard. Those other three would just try the fancy play and when it inevitably didn't work (ya know because this is the NHL) they would hang their head. Then it was the put the head down and make it look like I'm backchecking while skating about 4 km/hr.

On one play Schultz didn't even give the illusion of trying to get back to help breakup an odd man rush that was created by his foolish pinch.

I agree Kenny, but I don't think Lowebellini has the stones to part with one of their young 'stars' in order to acquire the help they need. Also, they have employed bad asset management regarding RNH (only one year left on his cheap ELC deal and they'll be lucky to get 110 games out of him in these first two years).

Yup - just watched it. He knew he was vulnerable and said "I didn't want to bury him, or hit him in the head/with his head down", so I'll just take out a knee and put him on the shelf for 6 to 8 weeks".

/I might have added the part after the word "so" above.

Is this representative of the Edmonton hockey community and Oilers fans in general?

he's not even the worst. I dare you to read some Dan Tencer

they are not a difficult team and fanbase to dislike.
it starts with the decades-old "City of Champions" sign on the edge of town.

I think the Oilers are quickly finding out that while they may have some talented players, it is a team game first and foremost and you need to play like a team to have success. Just because you can put up some points in the AHL doesn't mean it will translate to NHL success (and by the way, OKC wasn't a playoff team when that team was loaded with all the young Oilers stars).

The Oilers are the complete opposite of a team like the Devils. Free agents have come and gone but the system remains the same for the Devils. They don't necessarily draft the best player, they draft the best player for their system.

Oilers need to figure out what type of team they want to be and start moving pieces in order to get the team they want. They have the assets to pretty much get whatever they want. Take 2 of the big 4 to build around and trade the other 2 for depth.

Are we sure Clusterfuck was actually hurt? Last year when Wiznewski breezed by him he went down like Wiz ran him down in a Cadillac Escalade. After Wiz got ejected, he was cured and could laugh about it.

And remember, Hall doesn't have a history of this kind of thing, so if you have no history of this kind of thing they are always classified as "freak accident".

that'll play in his favor. And it's Clusterfuck-not like the league looks heavyily in his favor.
