From 20-20 to 0-1. And probably the most pathetic field goal attempt I've ever seen.

Definitely not the most pathetic FG attempt I've ever seen, not by a long shot.

Freese is our kicker now. He's not going to make every attempt, nobody does. He knuckle-balled his first-ever live NFL kick, probably not the end of his career or the world.

Hmmm a whole game was played and this is the post from Jay:L

Not just a whole game, a 3 TD stomping by us and this is his only comment. But like Muzz, he is not negative, he is just a realist.

Maybe I just don't understand the meaning of the word realist. Does it mean douchebag?

Lions fans were spoiled for twenty years with hanson. We wont see another kicker like hanson for a while. It is what it is. Freese wasnt impressive in week one, fortuntely it did not matter. I could see him costing us games in the future. Sam martin on the other hand did very well. Its too bad he cant kick fgs.

Veteran kicker Jay Feely cut by Arizona Cardinals - ESPN

Throughout offseason workouts and training camp, the 38-year-old was engulfed in a kicking competition, which he ultimately lost, with rookie Chandler Catanzaro. Feely struggled with his hang time and distance on kickoffs last season and into this year's camp, but missing a 48-yard field goal Sunday night against the Bengals likely sealed his fate.

He has made 82.7 percent of his kicks in his 13-year career. Since entering the league in 2001, Feely's 329 field goals were second most to David Akers, according to ESPN Stats & Information. His 90 field goals from 40 to 49 yards were second most during that stretch. And his 1,437 points are fourth among active players.

Ryan Succop or Rob Bironas: Who is the better choice?

Accuracy
Succop missed at least six field goals in each of his last four seasons, including a 22-of-28 performance (79 percent) last year. Over those four seasons, he was 94-of-118 (80 percent).
Bironas went 25-of-29 (86 percent) last year. Over the past four years, he only once missed as many as six times, hitting 103-of-118 (87 percent) overall.
Advantage: Bironas.
Long-range accuracy
In 2013, Succop went 7-for-12 (58 percent) from 40 yards or longer, and for his career, he's 44-of-64 from 40 or longer (69 percent). Bironas was 7-of-10 (70 percent) last year and is 94-of-124 (76 percent) for his career.
Advantage: Bironas.

I'd bring in Bironas if it were up to me. He has the best resume of available kickers, imo.

Fuckin' Mayhew......

If he hadnt low balled Jay last spring so he could overpay a certain somebody, he'd probably still be kicking. And moving in on the alltime scoring record.

People would have a hard time convincing me we'd be worse off over the last 18 games with #4 kicking field goals and Martin kicking off.
