Arrieta is also struggling right now. I will be glad for the AS break for this team.
I think you are right. We need at least 1 more after Kela and another SP.I'd add a piece anyway. But a starter definitely looks necessary.
Read above about A's.Nice win. Bats came alive and our top end of the pen was shut out ball. Tony earned that win.
Plus the As came back and now lead in the 9th.
Will be interesting.Lohse will start Saturday. Martinez is optioned. Still no Sadzeck.
There is a good chance they will add a bullpen piece, but I don't believe it will be an impact trade where we have to give up very much for them. It will probably be a JD special.I'd add a piece anyway. But a starter definitely looks necessary.
Man, that team must be blessedStros won. Altuve singled, Correa K'd and went to 1st of a wild pitch and Valbuena HR. Madson is a bum.
Valbuena is a definite steroid candidate. Never was even a decent hitter his entire career, so bad in fact that he was a platoon player for the Cuns when they were a last place team. Now all of a sudden he's hitting 25-30 HR a year despite not being able to hit his weight in batting average. Those guys are the ones I have no respect for at all... career hackers who can't hit a lick but are now suddenly belting out HR's right and left.Stros won. They will likely crash and burn eventually. Their pitching is atrocious all the way around, with Will Harris as their only decent reliever and Doug Fister their only consistent starter. Altuve, Correa, and Springer can only win them so many games down the stretch. Right now they're in one of those insane grooves where their spares are coming up with timely hits every night and everything is going right. And as we've seen recently with the Rangers, those streaks of invincibility eventually end.Man, that team must be blessed

Talent usually wins out in the end, which bodes well for the Rangers.
Astros will fall off this pace sooner than people realize.
I know his name has been mentioned and discussed around here as a trade target before, but what would you think of the Rangers going after Rich Hill?
On the downside he's pretty old (36) and his career hasn't been one filled with consistency. He's also on a 1-yr contract, so he would likely be strictly a rental.
However, it's getting almost impossible to ignore his career renaissance that's been taking place since last season and just write it off as a hot player who will cool soon enough. He has been downright dominant this year. He's only allowed 3 runs twice this year. Every other start has been 0-2 runs allowed with very high K totals. Also, the fact that he's only a 1-yr rental might be seen as an attractive option, not having to commit big money and years to an older player (he only makes $6 Mill). He's a lefty, so he would slot in nicely into a 4-man playoff rotation with our other lefty Hamels and our two righties Yu and Colby. Plus, the A's are definitely shopping him around and, since he is old and an expiring contract, he might not cost as much in terms of prospects as an Odorizzi, Moore, or Teheran.
Thoughts? Yay? Nay?
