Can we just use this miracle of a rewind button and not sign him?

I like this signing. Not a bad cap hit for what he brings. Apparently balls out every shift. Good energy guy that does not play dumb.

I don't quite understand this ruling. Look at the deal Brad Richards just got. He gets paid $12 million in the first two seasons and only $1 million in the last three seasons.

Here's what is stated in the article above. "The final two years of the contract cannot be worth less than half of either of the first two years of the deal."

So, how in the fuck is the Talbot deal violating salary cap rules and the Richards deal not? That's pretty damn confusing...lol

And agreed, he may turn out to be a great player for us, but I still hate the signing for obvious reasons.

Isn't the Richards deal front loaded with signing cash??

Yes, that's what I hear, but it seems to me that his deal is circumventing the cap as much as any other recent deal that was signed, so I'm a little perplexed.

Well, I agree with everyone stating that they can't for the life of them understand why the Richards' deal is legal, even though a lot of the money goes down as a "signing bonus." The money he gets per year clearly makes it a contract that circumvents the cap.

It doesn't matter to me. They're still paying $6.67 million per year cap hit for him, which is pretty significant when you add in the huge salaries of Gaborik and Lundqvist. That is a ton of money spent on just three players.

Done. 5 years with cap hit $1.75. We have $1.6 left with Lappy and $2.7 if he comes off. At 22 players so they could add 1. I think, however, we are at 50 contracts. Not sure if this include Couturier but there is flexability for the young guys to move up and down.

it doesn't include couturier, and the 50 contracts is AHL and NHL, moving them back and forth doesn't do anything unfortunately

if couturier makes the team, someone will have to be to traded

Nobody has to be moved for Schenn to make the team, right?

Where do you see 50? According to the capgeek page we have 22 roster and 26 non-roster contracts. In theory, that leaves us with 2 more -- one for Couturier and the other for Lappy's replacement.

no, schenn's already signed a contract so he's ready to go if he makes it.. alsoo if i'm not mistaken since he signed a contract he'll be on the flyers or phantoms this year, no more juniors

does capgeek have the goalie prospect we just recently signed? like bachava-something?

there's an article in the cap central thread that says we're at 50 contracts with that signing.. or i may have read it wrong and that puts us at 49?

i wish i could look at capgeek at work! :(
