I see the Wild tweaking their jersey and logo like the Preds last year. This is the new coming.

A tweet from Craig Button:

If Dallas is signing Jagr, why not the Wild signing Modano?

Dash you want to merge these 2 threads and rename it

Wild Sign Parise and Suter to $98M contracts ($7.5 Cap). might be easier for everyone to discuss since its the same team

Poile says Predators never got a chance to make a counter-offer. Clearly irked.

Poile is very unhappy in the conference call so twitter says.

Okay, raise your hand if you thought Minnesota would land Suter and Parise and Detroit would end up with Samuelsson and Tootoo?!? The other way around I could have seen, though.

@joelperetic
Suter is now making more money than every defenseman selected to the 2011-12 NHL All-Star game---which he was not selected to.

Seems to me as soon as somebody doesn't sign with their team, then the negative and backhanded tweets/blogs follow.

I agree with many of them in this case, but at the same time, this is the first time an NHL franchise has been relevant in Minnesota save for the two Cinderella runs to the Cup Finals by the North Stars in which they were leveled by the Islanders and Penguins respectively.

I would prefer for the season to start (on time prefereably) and for these guys to underachieve before we start to comment on how bad these signings were.

i thought Wild would have a great shot at Parise/Suter but didnt know how financially committed Leipold would be (ie whether he would overpay?) or whether Heatleys contract would be an albatross that stood in their way

I actually think the Parise deal is good in a place like Minnesota, where they can build the franchise around him. I am trying to talk my Pens fans friends of the ledge on Facebook, and trying to explain why it didn't make sense for them
The Suter deal is silly though.

That being said, two american stars in Americas hockey city does not suck.

i dont think its unfair to question the Suter signing (overpay)

I dont question the parise signing one iota ... perfect signing ... hometown guy ... skilled flashy professional hard worker ... will generate revenue ... definition of franchise player for that market imo
