You didn't talk about paying the players, how do the schools do that?
Sure, The university sells Tickets to games, Merchandise, and signs a tv deal. They take some of this money and agree to compensate those that make the tickets, merchandise, and tv deals worth anything. The unused portions of that money go towards the upkeep of facilities and marketing. Which in turn allows them to sell MORE tickets and merchandise.

Now stick with me here. At the end of the year if the athletic department made more money than they spent that is called a profit! If it does not the team folds or they bring in a new AD that knows how to balance a spreadsheet.

Right here, where I talk about compensating people. The bold part. Let me know if you also need to italicize or underline it as well.

To recap: They use the money they make from football and pay people to play football.

Yes we know, the point was things need to change there. Isn't this about making changes?

Well this ruling doesn't address those rules. It only relates to education related payments.

This ruling only allows educational-related expenses. I think it is only a matter of time now. I think paid for their likenesses next, and pay will be last.

Almost certainly. And the high court seems more than willing to strike down those laws as well.

The NCAA put those rules in place to prevent the big schools from getting all the talent. And yet, here we are, with the same 3 or 4 schools in the NCAA title game every year.

So all this time and you have no idea how to actually pay the players? That was what I was talking about all along.

I am sorry you thought How and How Much was the same thing I guess.

I also have no idea how much to pay News Anchors, Sanitation Workers, Mimes, Maids. That does not change that they should be paid though.

Well I disagree, that free education is a very big deal. That in a way is like paying them to play.

Gee, when I went to college, I didn't expect to get anything until after I graduated. That's what college is supposed to do for you. It was kind of like Deferred Compensation.

I played lacrosse and ice hockey. I was, in fact, a real student athlete. I got nothing for my athletic endeavors, before, during or after college. None of us did, but I recall them saying that our athletic department was part of turning out healthy, well rounded individuals. They liked to emphasize life sports, the ones you can still enjoy for years after graduation.

We had more intercollegiate sports than any other college in the country, except the Naval Academy, because they had football and we didn't.

I hung up my skates at 70 years old. To me, this is what college should be like for students. Teams where only the elite can make the cut are cheating kids out of part of their education.

I have no clue how MUCH they should be paid. How is pretty straightforward still.

I am glad you are will to decide what is enough compensation for others though. I am sure if your job decided paying for college was enough you would have no issue taking just the education and forgoing a check.

He's the same dude that thought Dak should just take $26M a year because he thought that seemed fair and who needs more than that after all... His ideas of market place economies are a little bit skewed.

Considering these are youmg people, most with no families to support, no ortage payments or actualy payments w are pretty much talking spending money, you would disagree?

So just how much does a kid need? Now do all te players make the same? What if va kid is injured and can't play? So all 100 players get paid?

It is shocking how willing some people are to decide what is enough for other people to make. You never see them apply that policy to themselves though.

Wrong!

You pay for who can do what, anyone can pick fruit, not everyone can rebuild an engine. You pay for skills.
