One thing that was fascinating in last night's game was the formation the Eagles kept using on either 4th & 1 or at even the goal line, which was them almost looking like they were gonna take a knee, but obviously it was meant to push help Hurts over for the 1st down or TD. They must have used that at least on at least 4 or 5 occasions and it worked every time. Have to wonder if the rest of the league will attempt their own versions of this next year. Can't say it's foolproof, no play ever is. But it sure was successful last night and something tells me there's a new blueprint for short yardage plays to move the chains or even score a TD.
Philly advantage at Ol and hurts make it nearly unstoppable

The pushing the QB forward on a sneak is something a lot of NFL teams were using this season. Mostly due to a little-remembered rule change back in 2006 that allowed players to push their teammates forward. Even though other teams used it here and there during the season and playoffs, No one used it as much as Philly did. Considering how successful it was for them, can't blame them.

Oh, I know this has been around for some time now and more so last season. What I was specifically referring to was the formation the Eagles used. It just seems to be one that will be immediately copied next year by many teams.

It was a weak call... the 1st and only holding call of the night. So maybe the ball would have only been 6' over his head instead or 10' over his head had that not happened. There's contact at the LOS when a WR is trying to get into his route routinely.
FYI un-catchable is a factor in PI, not holding. It wouldn't matter if Mahomes threw it into the stands.

I only think a couple of teams have QBs that could do what Hurts did. Chris Jones actually jumped it but didn't have leverage and Hurts got a first down basically lifting Chris Jones and moving him back. Not many teams should even try that with their QB.

Maybe teams will have secondary 'running QBs' they draft but I also doubt that can be a normal trend. The more likely trend is the investment in the biggest run stuffing MFer on your roster so the other team doesnt do it. But I could be wrong. It does kinda look unstoppable. Even Brady mastered the sneak a long time ago but not quite like the Eagles do it.

I know.

Someone said he might have caught it without the hold. I said that he wouldn't have come close regardless. That was where that point came from.

Guess we'll never know, since holds can have multiple effects.
Obviously it slows the runner down, holds can also change the route being ran.
Without the hold maybe the WR is farther upfield than you believe he'd be, and maybe Mahomes gets a better view on where to throw the ball.

In hindsight one thing the Eagles should have done, on first down. Instead of just watching the RB run to the 1, they should have forcefully escorted him into the EZ.

Too bad they didn't think of that. It would have been pretty funny watching a couple of Eagles try to drag him and the ball into the end zone before he went down.

Why won’t you answer my question?

I know why. Purdy left the game because the Eagles pass rush got to him and ended his game. The Niners lost another QB later because they couldn’t handle the Eagles pass rush. Newsflash! Offensive lineman get paid a lot of money because they protect the QB and are supposed to keep him upright. The Forty Whiners can’t do that and that’s why they lost.
They got a lucky hit on him otherwise he would have still been completing passes and Niners would have put up points. There is no denying that. Game changed, accept it.

There was nothing wrong with the field. It was an ordinary grass field, and it behaved in the exact same way you should expect a grass field to behave as you go from daylight into dusk, sundown, and nightfall. Dew is a natural phenomena, as is condensation.

Lucky hit? He beat a back up TE cleanly and he attacked the throwing arm. Lucky? He intends to attack the football. Holy shit! Is your goal showing everybody that you really don’t know fuck all about the game of football?!?!?!? Really seems that way. Was the Suh knocking out Johnson “lucky” as well? He also beat his man cleanly and was able to get a straight shot in on the QB. This isn’t Aaron Donald. Suh had 1 sack in 8 regular season games. 1 sack. He’s not some elite pass rush guy. He’s an over the hill DT signed to sure up the run. Your whale shit pass pro gave him a free run at the QB. This is why you come off like a little bitter bitch fan Boi that doesn’t know the game. You can’t claim “it would have been different if only” when the condition that created you losing your QB wasn’t an aberration. It was the norm of what took place that day. The Eagles DL completely dominated your protection schemes. Your offensive line didn’t even belong on the field with the Eagles that day. 2 weeks later you’re still running your mouth. That shit is sad.

Nope this was special grass grown specifically for this game

What type of grass does State Farm Stadium have?

The turf is Tahoma 31. Tahoma 31 is a hybrid of two types of Bermuda grasses and rye grass and was developed at Oklahoma State University and monitored by Dr. Yanqi Wu, who started the process of creating it in 2006.

The Super Bowl turf was grown in Scottsdale, Arizona, at West Coast Turf, about 45 miles east of the stadium where this year’s Super Bowl will be played.

Much more slippage was experienced in the painted areas of the field.

If you can go back fifty years, I can go back 60 or 70 years including Eagles three title years; 1948, 1949, and 1960. So Eagles are 4-3 in lifetime NFL championships.
